Purchased Businesses and Hobbies Today

Today is April 18, 2025. This is the day that was on every announcement as the cut-off for the Businesses and Hobbies bonus content package. I did not receive this content. I purchased the package directly through the EA application.

I realize that the promotional material did say "before April 18, 2025", but in the future, I'd appreciate a more precise cut-off time. Such as clarifying that the promotion ends at midnight in a specific time zone between April 17 and 18.

If this is a technical error, I'd appreciate a correction.

Either way, thank you for your time.

  • Yeah, was waiting to get the new pack til I wrapped up my current legacy challenge which I was very close to doing & was planning to do this evening. Left work today excited to buy the new pack because I was really looking forward to that lamp. Got home to see the promo gone :/

Guess I'll be waiting til it goes on sale.

  • "Before april 18th" means "On april 17th at the latest" the same way "before tuesday" means "by monday" and "before 8pm" means "through 7:59PM". It's unfortunate you misunderstood it but it seems pretty cut and dry imo. they gave you two entire months lol

  • I'm sorry you missed the bonus items. I can definitely see how it could be misconstrued.

Regardless, it's better if the deadline is precisely stated, such as "by X date time PST". It can be unclear otherwise. In a lot of fields, it's important to be very particular about this.

2 months isn't a lot of time either because it's normal to play the Sims only once every few months, which is probably why they do these FOMO promotions.

I'm sure your superhuman photographic memory recalls the exact language of every deadline you receive, but we mere mortals often lock onto the date without retaining the full contextual language. Also, advertising does often use "before X date" to mean "X date is the last day available".

Also, some of us have things called "responsibilities" which doesn't guarantee us money to spare on demand for our hobbies.

I'd feel better about missing out on these little bonus packages if they were made available at a later date, such as when the pack becomes available for bundling, or when a new pack of the same level gets released.
