When you try to do anything in the rain it is always open umbrella, take a step, close umbrella, open umbrella and so on. A raincoat that we can equip would solve the endless open the umbrella, close the umbrella hiccup that always happens.

I think that in the likes and dislikes panel, there was a weather category we're they would react differently depending on their preferences.
I have never liked the umbrellas, the idea was there, but it ended up being so annoying. The sims look like they don't know what to do with the thing most of the time, and then it glitches where they dont put it away, or they do but look like they are still holding one.
It would be good if they had like a rain coat, or outdoor wear coats/jackets with hoods that sims could put up when it starts raining. Not sure how they could make that work but would be so much better than the umbrellas.
The autonomy for umbrellas in the game is horrible. Most annoying.
LilMsSam has a mod for raincoats. Also maybe a mod to stop the Sims using umbrellas I think. I know she has a mod to pick particular umbrellas.
Why not both?
I agree that the umbrella autonomy is awful and needs major improvements, but I think it's still worth having the option. I'd love to see them add parasols so that vampire Sims who can't be out in the sun could have some form of defense against it.
I'd love raincoats, but they would need to introduce different versions: long, short, patterned, plain, etc. I'd love for Sims to automatically change into raincoats when it rains or snows.
