The Sims 4 is mainly controlled with the mouse with only a few keyboard commands so there is no real reason to have a feature to change keybindings and I have never seen a request for this before.

- The meaningless rotation of the cam on N and M why not Q and E would make more sense ? as you use ADSW ?!
You rotate the screen with , and . M is used for travelling.
Why don't you use the mouse to move the screen you need to use it all the time any way.
Your mention of WASD suggest that you are more accustomed to First Person Shooters (FPS) however the Sims 4 is not an FPS. Thus trying to control it as if it were is really not the best option.
Actually it is not me but my GF playing this game and she played Since Sims 1 and is still thinking it is annoying not to have those two buttons at Q and E ?! she dont play FPS and never Has. ! this is just that a game this popular this "big" this Magnitude does not have the options to change keybindings like nearly every other game releases.
I would like to change camera controls and rotation of objects to mouse 4-7 because those are the only controls I would have had to use a keyboard for.
- Dude, even visual novels and games like World of Warcraft (not first person shooter) and like any game where you move around like a character like Life Is Strange. You are saying Life Is Strange is like a first person shooter, so if i played these other games and am very familiar with those movement keys, and more games use them and sims 3 we had to click S and W and E for South, West, East. To move the camera in those areas. So why doesn't sims 4? you just need to realize that if you play all these other games that isn't the sims, doesn't mean you are accustomed to first person shooters lmao
I have changed the movement of the screen to WASD. Its better for my hands as I am a lefty. I dont remember how (because I want pivot to now be Q and E) but if I find out I will come back

As a CAD user and as a Gamer, i can appreciate the use of keyboard shortcut to improve gaming.

- @jpkarlsen I don't play FPS however I use WASD and most other key shortcuts. The only time I use the mouse (or mouse pad in my case) is to select things. The only problem key I want to change is the M. The amount of times I accidentally press it when using the < key to rotate is super annoying
It's a PC game... and in 2020 it STILL can't rebind keys.

Have you looked in the Default.ini file? There's a [GameplayKeys] section which is blank but if you can figure out what values to enter for the game to successfully read them please do share! ur a life saver and i would be lost without u
- @NoxOculis V key on your mouse. I don't have a V key on my mouse. I've been gaming all my life and the V key on the keyboard has rarely been needed for utilization. We are speaking english with english keys, not french? Sims uses keys like a compass formation, for moving the world. My cp runs avi. No computer that runs Sims is prehistoric. So, my point is, i don't understand what you are trying to prove here. Im baffled kinda
- @Peachess143 AVI isn't a video format. It's a multimedia container format. AVI is nothing without video codecs, and not all PCs have video codecs installed. It's an antique format and was a bad design, which is why it isn't used hardly any more. Every company/video wanted to have their own "codec" so the number of codecs exploded, and people would have to install dozens and dozens of codecs, which ended up ruining computers.
Different players like different keyboard configurations. Me, I HATE WASD for movement in games. I prefer the older WADX configuration. Just because YOU don't like it, doesn't make it wrong. - @Psychotps Yeah. There are players for AVI that are converters to MP4 or comes with it to automatically recognize AVI files as readable for windows music, video, etc. No need for a codec when windows allows the simple conversion.
When did i say i don't like movement or that i like movement? I play sims, i don't like touching my keyboard if i dont have to when playing, I've also been playing World of Warcraft longer than i have lived and other games. I have no problem with keybinding needs, I see no need in keybindings added to sims and believe that would make a ton of problems for the player base as they need to use keys to do what they used to just click for. THAT is what made me involve my opinions in here. I am very versatile when it comes to gaming and will play almost anything honestly. - @jpkarlsen have you never played any other pc game. almost all let you change these. I for one have back and forth buttons on my mouse and a key binding for page up and down would be perfect for them but this game for some reason doesn't follow the same standard as every other pc game, having customizable keybindings.
it’s the build mode options for me.
i don’t have an ALT key on my keyboard (it’s broken), so i can’t free move without awkwardly pressing down in a specific spot
also the keys for sizing up and down are a little awkward and it’d be nice to be able to have one hand on my mouse, and the other on WASD and using the surrounding keys for shortcuts especially in build mode.
id love a mod for this
The number of times I have exited back to the neighborhood while in build mode because I accidentally hit F1 instead of ESCAPE .... why can I NOT set my own keybinds in this game?? I would definitely disable that f*@#ing F1 key.
its not just shooters with WASD its LITTEALLY ANY GOOD GAME plus I bought it with steam and because of this stupid problem I can't use the stupid 1st person mode and that is quite important to me this makes no sense because what if someone's keys are broken or have another important job that can't be switched 😮 👎
Yeah, when I hit that one key that is at the top of my keyboard that always closes the entire game out especially when multiplayer, sucks, can't even keybind out of Alt+f4 unless they added that in without me noticing in World of Warcraft. My old laptop had a key that did nothing at all except shut any game i was playing down faster than I do manually. That was it. Was next to my Delete key.
Could be worse, build mode could have a feature where you must save it before exiting out of it or it resets. But you lose nothing, just some irritation.
I have never used keys in build mode. My one thing for Sims has always been to keep my hands and everything else OFF of the keyboard.
On a serious note though, it sucks when your game gets shut off after spending a long and not yet complete session in CaS ^.^ That will get me to go find somewhere else to mind my business.

Why not change that? It'd be an optional thing. You have so many buttons on your keyboard, why not making them usable? Currently you barely use the second hand and have to move a lot with the cursor. It'd make the game a lot more accessible, less annoying and fun to use, I don't understand why you'd be against that.
- @jpkarlsen There are so many reasons to change keybinds. For ease of play to name a few. Or maybe your keyboard has a piece that is not working well for example. Something i would like to change is the speed setting, the pause would be so much better on spacebar or on number 1.
