Maybe next week is the week we will hear back! 😉
my shopping cart button is not pulsating, I just get a text balloon in the screen which won't disappear until you click it. please do not force these things down people's throat. like this, i don't want to buy any sims pack anymore.
as mentioned by @FreddyFox1234 ... the below is true.
I think it’s a risky strategy from EA. I’ve read so many simmers who’ve been playing for decades, who’ve played earlier Sims games, who’ve bought every pack (or pretty much), and who’ve been so loyal to the Sims that they’ve put up with bugs and so many other serious issues and would have carried on buying every pack and staying loyal because of all the good times and memories they’ve had with the Sims — but they’ve finally had enough and are saying that this is the last straw, and they’re walking away from the game. With competition for the Sims coming thick and fast now, these players will never come back.

So still nothing?
Guess we're just need to give up and uninstall the game the answer seam obvious. No, we don't give a damm about you
Shame. Is that button more important than not loosing your long term player? ( yep, started with TS1)
I dare you. Prove me wrong. Prove you care about us and remove the dammed thing out of our sight.

Not a happy camper this morning. I was avoiding the CCSP patch because of the shopping cart and bugs. But yesterday's Origin outage forced my game to re-download and update when the server came back online. Now I have to update my mods (including BBB, which will let me get rid of the cart icon) and cross my fingers that I don't experience any game-breaking nonsense like endless loading screens. Fingers crossed...

@PandoraTO And that is the problem. The way things are set up, even if you choose offline play, it only takes one "mistake" like you mentioned with a forced restart and the game is updating while you are going "noooooo" watching it. That has happened to me before when I wanted to wait out an update for a couple days until mods were updated.
It is easy enough to shrug off when it is just a matter of convenience for a couple days, but when the problems with an update are severe or possibly game breaking, well, that is another matter.
I got the mod to remove the cart, and since I was already struggling with the patch issues, I decided to go ahead and buy the crystal pack. Might as well have the perks if I was already dealing with the downside. But I will be doing the "try not to patch" dance on the next one, until I can verify that EA is not pulling another maneuver that I cannot mod away, on the next update.
I did turn off auto updates for both game and Origin in my preferences, which will work for a while on my Mac until I am forced to download an app instead of using Origin to start my game. I have no idea how hard it will be to avoid updates when I have to use an app to start up the game, in the near future.
I really want to keep playing this game. It means a lot to me to be able to play. But the cart issue almost deep-sixed it for me. Without the mod to remove the flashing, pulsing cart I would have been forced to stop playing. A very close call. Now I am twice shy about any further changes to my game. If I just go offline indefinitely, never patching again or buying any more stuff, or letting Origin update, I at least could continue to play the game I love.
I have every pack except dust busters (I hate vacuuming in real life so have zero desire to do it in game) and have most of the kits. The kits I do not have, I do not want. CAS stuff I will never use would just clutter up my game, so no point in buying it. Being asked to buy more, when I "have it all" is really annoying.
But I could still ignore a cart that just sat there doing nothing. One that flashes or pops up a bubble that is covering my game or glows with a yellow dot until I click it is not something I could ignore. And that takes it out of the realm of a "feature" and into more than annoying and insulting.
If EA insists on leaving a cart in the game, at least make it a small cart that can be ignored by the people who have already purchased all they ever plan to purchase, and something that can be toggled off to avoid photo sensitivity. If EA won't even do that much to meet the needs of their base, well ... maybe they deserve to lose us.
In the mean time, I think being offline and not updating anything, is the safest thing, for me, personally.

I play on console and let me tell you, I WISH I could choose to not update the game. Every time new, untested content comes out, there's a patch to go with it. Regardless of whether or not you actually purchase the new stuff, your game is patched anyway and it ALWAYS breaks something.
I chose to play Sims 4 on PlayStation because in internal ICT support I get my fair share of computers at work. Idea of sitting on my couch with a hassle-free version of the game was just too tempting. Now, all except one expansion packs and every game pack plus various other stuff later, I feel cheated. I can't mod that stupid button away, I can't prevent my game for being broken more and more patch by patch, I can't benefit from modders' efforts in fixing all the stuff devs won't bother to even test. And the fact that I've bought all that content on PlayStation counts for absolutely nothing if I'd like to play on PC, even though it's still the same EA account I'd be using.
It probably goes without saying, but I don't exactly feel like a valued customer. - Coraychi2 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
This whole situation really has killed my motivation to play the game, as I was playing pretty actively (almost every night of the week) before this update — I haven't touched the game since.
The silence is adding insult to injury, and reaffirming my low opinion of EA as a company.
- LadyAofPineapple2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Coraychi I saw this article last night that sums up pretty well: https://gamerant.com/sims-4-new-shop-icon-feature-bad-project-rene/

That's a great article and sums up quite well what I'm thinking about the shopping cart icon as a strategy. While it may tempt some to make yet another purchase, I can't even imagine I'd be the only one out there who is making a conscious decision to not buy anything ever again.
And when it comes to next iteration of The Sims - this "Project Rene" - I haven't even been thinking about it. I completely forgot about the whole thing. And there's a good reason for that too. With the way things have been going for these past weeks, I can't see myself touching another Sims game even if the cart was removed. Because I know "Project Rene" will have something similar, since it's going to be free-to-play from launch. Meanwhile, my curiosity towards upcoming InZOI is growing by the minute. - LadyAofPineapple2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Irezawa It's true for me as well. I wasn't thinking about trying a new life sim until now. If I'm going to be bombarded with advertising from a F2P game, it might as well be one I expect it from. But Sims 4 really isn't a true F2P game. It's so stark without any expansions, and those *each* come at a cost of a whole other game. There's no $.99 microtransactions to add a bit of extras to the full game experience.

I had deliberately stayed away from this topic as it makes me angry and frustrated and a lot of other negative emotions, aggravating the pain and issues the shopping cart causes. Sims 4 has been a recognised part of my rehabilitation from serious injury after an attack in the workplace. It has helped me through many issues and has been a major part of ongoing generations of family life for my (now deceased) parents, myself, my children and now my grandchildren. It has been as big a part of our lives as the extended-family board game events.
I have discussed this issue and related feelings with my medical team. Their advice: we are now looking for alternatives for The Sims. It will not just be myself who will be changing - it will be all their patients who participate in this project. Admittedly, this may be only a small drop in the EA bucket; but each drop wears away at the rock. Over time, water wins - constant drops of water create rot in structures, erosion of soil, huge chasms… or many other issues when looking at a larger global scale.
Many people have expressed their displeasure about the shopping cart, openly stating that it is causing them pain (physical, psychological, emotional…). The EA response seems to be to ignore this issue… which ultimately seems to ignore their stated “inclusive” and “play with life” attitude.
Many people (especially the long term players) have stated that the shopping cart is the last straw for them. It would be interesting to have access to statistics about how gameplay volumes; numbers of cancelled accounts versus new accounts and whether these are actually free accounts or accounts with purchased content (and I don’t believe the packs that have been recently provided as free content should be included in the paid section). Transparency???The Sims monopoly is about to be broken and I am watching and waiting for the fallout!

I've actually been getting mods for The Sims 2 and downloading lots of things to modernize it and make it look better, since the gameplay is better and there are less bugs! I'm even looking into doing the same with TS3 - so you could use other Sims games, since TS4 has become a buggy, heartless cashgrab hamster wheel? At least until other life sims come out! That said, I'll comment for a second time on this thread:
No one wants this button. It is scummy and cashgrabby. It is wildly disrespectful to longtime customers. There are already multiple ways to purchase packs that are less invasive. There is literally no reason for this button to exist, and the outcry against it, alone, should be enough...not to mention the myriad of other reasons that it was a defunct 'feature' even before it was launched.
- LadyAofPineapple2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Kesseir I really hope the eventual response to this outcry is positive. I really didn't think I'd ever have my enthusiasm for this series be shaken. :/
