Re: Sims 4 Multiplayer or Online

I think that a sims massively multiplayer online would be a great edition to the sims. I would love to play online with my friends and feel that this is what the sims need to make it perfect. I hope this can one day happen!

@melissamckee27 Oh god no! PLEASE NO!

The last thing we need is another mmorpg. I love my Sims just the way it is, blissfully single-player.
  • the original sims can stay the way it is but i just think an online version would be really fun too

@melissamckee27, I have to agree with @Psychotps  on this .  However, there was an online version of the Sims called Sims Online! 🤨  It was released in 2002 and ended in 2008.  While many others recently have expressed interest in playing an online version of The Sims, I don't know how likely it would be that EA would try this again since the Sims Online wasn't that successful. 🤔  But maybe they will surprise us! 😃

@melissamckee27, you can try your best to do that, but there is no actual way you can single handedly do that unless you know millions of people and can get them buy the game and then play it! 😞

And even if you could get that many people to buy and play it, you would still have to convince EA that it would be a good idea. 🤭

  • @PugLove888 i will try my very best and i believe i will be successful, 2002 was a different time !! they’ll believe me eventually

@melissamckee27  while you should always do your best, you also need to have realistic expectations. Otherwise you are setting yourself up for a massive letdown. 😢

Yes, 2002 was a "different time" but if the first didn't sell well, realistically EA would be very hesitant to do something again that they have proof didn't work in the first place. 🤨

@melissamckee27, I'm not trying to crush your dreams, but I am trying to soften the blow 😇 since there have been some other people in the past several years who have also said they wanted the Sims to be online. It would be wrong of me to lie to you!

That stated, there is still a chance that EA might consider doing an online version of the Sims again. But while your input would help make that happen, you can not single-handedly cause that to happen (unless you bought the company! 😃).

Some people say that The Sims 4 was supposed to be an online version but that it didn't work out.  Others say it was supposed to be mobile version.  I don't know if any of these are true or not.  If TS4 was supposed to be an online version and it didn't work out, then that might make EA less likely to try it again -- but it does mean that they might still be considering it. So, just continue to support an online Sims game, but also realize that it might not happen! 😇

@melissamckee27, I just talked to someone I know who played The Sims Online.  They said it didn't work because it ended up being more of a chat room than an actual game. 🤒 Also, even when there was a little bit of gameplay, it was harmed by the fact that you can't fast-forward the boring parts like you can do with any other Sims game.  It became very tedious! 😞

So, this is probably one of those things that are great in theory, but not so good in reality. 😢

Update: I also forgot about the online feature that TS3 had with one of its EPs.  Showtime allowed you to send one of your preforming Sims to a Friends town for a show, where your friend could watch them.  Your Sim could tour, or have other visit your Sims' town as well for you to watch their performance.  Sadly, the system didn't work well.  A lot of people were upset with it since it was very difficult to get it working right.  I also seem to remember not many Sims would show up to watch these shows, which didn't help matters. 🤭

However, The Sims Mobile lets you host a party and invite other players to your house.  So @melissamckee27 , that might be more to your likening! 🥳

@melissamckee27 I actually thought about this!
Of course, I don't want it to be fully online, I expect there's a new world where all the sims is a real player and the other worlds (Willow Creek, Newcrest, etc) stay offline as it used to be.
But the problem is, the world size. If the world is online and some of us decided to live there (build a house, etc), then there's no way a world can accommodate all TS4 players. Maybe TS4 team can make it online but only up to 10 players in a world, and in order to play with others in that online world, I need to add you as a friend in Origin and then there will be an invite option.

This mean, if I didn't add you as a friend and we are not connected, then our online world will be separated. I think this is what Stardew Valley Multiplayer mode does.

Hi @melissamckee27 Have never used it, but there is a current mod called Sims 4 Multiplayer not sure of all it's features, doubt it would be 'massively multiplayer' though 😃 it's in the early testing stages & I hear they do keep it updated. Just another option, it has a dedicated website, so you'd just need to search for that.

    Happy Simming

@PugLove888 highly unlikely for them to have a Sims Online game again it was between The Sims 2 and 3 and the servers are very expensive to maintain, and would cost a lot to rent out. The stupid lots where nothing but dumb grinds of making pizza or other stupid stuff.

@Sid1701d9 That's why I don't want it. Since there's a lot of cost involved, companies want to make up the expenses, service fees, subscriptions, microtransactions, loot boxes, it becomes riddled with charges and fees that we all end up paying.

Single-player games are a dying breed.

This is a really great idea, but it's very difficult to make it real. I don't think that we will see something like this in the near future. It would be awesome to play a mmorpg that looks just like a real like and you can do everything that you want, but can you imagine how difficult is it to implement into a game ? Unfortunately, the only thing that I can recommend you now is some really cool mmo's from yourmoneygeek.com. I would suggest Archeage, it's not bad
