Re: Suggestion - Sims 4 - Sims with Disabilities
I’m just sitting here watching my kids play in the rain, and as I’m watching my disabled son watch his sisters play and then try and attempt to push over whatever the girls was playing with 😬 Then this random idea popped up in my head..
what if.. Sims 4 had an extension pack where you can have an option to have a disabled sim or have possibility of giving birth to one.
I see that the game has potential of making it SO realistic, so what if this extension is the closest to realistic as it can get!
Some ideas 💡
- there’s SO many disabilities/diseases out here, but to shorten it down to make it easier for developers to work with and study, I would choose Cancer, Life long or child-hood seizures, Down syndrome, Autism, Diabetes and then to really knock out out the park , you can create a sim with one arm or leg missing. Possibility of birthing a defect baby ( I’ll explain why later in details of in game playing )
I’m typing this while holding a busy 8m old and trying to watch 4 other kids under the age 8 so if this is very unreadable and very uneducatedly typed, I’m sorry.. bare with me please 😅
Okay now for the game play, I tried to think of ways to make it as realistic as possible.. but also something that won’t automatically have the creators deny my idea because it’s sound so complicated 😭
Here we go:
Cancer:
-Have the Sim have the option for treatment.
-To keep it simple and reasonable it should be Breast Cancer for females, and Testicular Cancer for the men. ( I chose that one for the men because a lot of men don’t know about it. Females either.. and something I feel like it would be very interesting for the creators to create ) .
-Hair loss if chosen treatment.
-If Sim choose not to be treated, the Sims life span is shorten by however many sim years creators choose.
- reg Dr appointments until cured. ( Player responsibility to keep up with appts.)
- Player has to schedule treatment appointments.
- Daily medication. ( Player responsibility to take meds (
- Medicaid for low income sims. For Sims that can afford insurance can choose a Class A,B,or C in whatever name insurance creators choose.
- Class A covers 100% no copay. $1000 monthly.
- Class B covers 50% $25 Copay. $500
- Class C covers 25% $50 copay $200
Player can choose to purchase insurance on a computer or their cell phone. Make their payments automatic or player can have the option to disable autopay and choose to pay bill on computer or cell phone/ home phone.
- Sim that chooses treatment is only feeling sick for the first 12hrs after treatment or before diagnosed. While on treatment, the sim may experience fatigue, loss appetite ( sad Modlet will show for a couple hours after eating ) and extreme weight loss if the player is not consistent with medication. *Medication is distributed to the sim at every dr appointment. ( no need for a pharmacy )
- Sims who don’t choose treatment will experience the same symptoms but more intense ( longer sad modlet. Uncomfortable modlet, sick modlet ). Sim randomly vomits. Sim is tired very quickly.
Treatment Plan:
- Treatments 3 days a week.
- $800 per treatment.
- Medicine is paid thru treatment. After sim returns home, the medicine will be available in inventory. Quantity will be 2.
A Treatment Visit will only be 4 sim hours long.
When Player sets up Treatment appointment, they will have the option to choose from the calendar on their best availability schedule in case sim has a job.
Seizures:
Sim with seizures will have the responsibility to take medication. Also have responsibility for Dr appointment.
- Dr appointments are once a week.
Medicine is available to sim in inventory after every dr appointment. Quantity of 7.
Dr Appointments:
- 2 sim hours long
- $200 per visit
Sim with seizures will randomly fall and seize. ( Rare if on medicine ) . Frequent headaches. ( Less frequent if medicated ) . If diagnosed with child hood seizure, The child will outgrow it once it hit teenage age. Otherwise, Sim with seizures will have to do this routine for the rest of their life.
A sim who chooses to not take Medication will Seize every day, multiple times. Constant headaches, Fatigue and Possibility of the angry modlet depending on the Sims traits.
Down syndrome:
Due to this being diagnosed at birth, Your sim can only be diagnosed with autism from pregnancy. You cannot choose this thru create mode.
- Dr. Appointments
- Daily Medication
- $200 per visit
Dr appointments are once a week. Medication will be givin after every dr appt, available in inventory. Quantity of 7.
Sim with Down syndrome will have their own specific Traits. Player will be able to choose 1 trait for sims Personality once Their sim gives birth.
Sim with DS will have special traits that will cause certain skills to be easier to learn depending on the 1 trait player chooses. That skill can be:
- Any Musical instrument ( inc. singing )
- Comedy
- Writing
- Logic
- Painting
I’m giving it to the creators on how they can have a DS sim move and interact. A sim with DS is almost no different than a normal sim.
A their mood modlets will depend on what extra trait player chooses. DS sim can be happy all the time, mad, or sad. Very silly most of the time, and sometimes very focused. If a DS don’t take medication, the Sim will always be either emotional or angry.
Diabetes:
- Dr visit
- daily medication ( shots )
- $200 per visit
Dr appointments are once a week. Medicine will be givin after every appointment available in inventory. Quantity 14.
Dr appointments are 2hrs long. Medicine is to be taken twice daily. If player give second dose before 12 sim hrs, The sim will get sick.
A sim with diabetes will tend to go for more sweet food. It will be player responsibility to make sure sim chooses healthy meals to prevent sim from dieting. ( to keep the creativity simple for creators, if a diabetic sim eats too much sweets in a certain time frame, it could lead to possibly killing the sim if not medicated. If on medication, the sim will pass out instead. )
Diabetic sims gain weight faster than normal sims. Diabetic sims are recommended to exercise for longer life span. A diabetic sim CAN be cured if player purchases a potion with their aspiration points.
If sim chooses to not take medication or lacks in taking it every to days can result in sores. Sores will then have to be treated by giving the player an option by clicking the sim and choosing “ treat sore” and doing that consistently until sore goes away. *similar to when you put acne cream on teenagers on the sims to get rid of a pimple.
Player will have to pay attention to their sim in order to see a sore and have it treated. ( sore medicine don’t need to be purchased. The option to treat it will show up as soon as it’s visible on sim)
Missing Limb:
Ill let the creators go crazy with that idea. My kids going crazy right now so I have to go back and be a parent soon, but this specific idea is just an extra thought in mind that maybe the creators can have fun with.
Summary:
All Dr Appointments are only 2hrs long.
All Dr appointments are $200 per appointment.
Cancer Treatment Appointments are 4hrs long.
All Cancer Treatment Appointments are $800 per appointment
Insurance is Billed every 2 sim weeks.
Both Dr and Cancer Treatment appointments are non interaction. The player will set their appointments, and the sim will leave the home. Player is then interacting with other sims or time is sped up until sim returns.
Everything else as in appearance I can leave to the creators creativity.
I wish I could type some more but I have to go, and hope the creators come across this post and consider this an idea. I wouldn’t mind a small percentage of it do become a thing ☺️ Get my lil family out this toxic environment 🥴
I know so many players would enjoy this and I know it would bring an amazing outlook for the EA creators to have a game supporting disability and conditions because it’s not appreciated enough 💖
-thank you for anybody taking the time reading this.. have a wonderful day 😁
