Re: Suggestion - Sims 4 - Sims with Disabilities

There doesn't seem to be anything for partially sighted or blind players on the sims 4? Like I look through create a sim and there's nothing in medical that would create a partially sighted sim, glasses are usually in the accessories section which is wrong because glasses are used to see, just like hearing aids are used to hear. There aren't that many styles either to choose from and you can't adjust things like lens thickness, you can't give them a stick or reading aids or anything like that. the glasses just seem to be a style thing, my sims even took them off when they changed clothes and never put them back on, if they used glasses they would probably fall over if they didn't have them on. It would be nice if I could have options like contact lens cases in the bathroom, or for sims to have a stick, or braille books/reading aids, things like that.

I also can't find any settings that would make the game easier to play, so to make the size of the text bigger so partially sighted players can read it or an option to read the text out loud or to have speaking options like 'this sim is now happy' or things like that. Like the actual gameplay is quite difficult if you have sight difficulties, which is a shame because those players paid the same price for the game and the expansion packs so we should get the same experience.

I guess this doesn't just apply to partial sighted players, like maybe a deaf sims could use sign language and then sims reply in sign when they talk to them. It would just be nice if these disabilities could be represented more in actual gameplay than just putting a hearing aid on a sim.

Is there anything on the game to help partially sighted players/players with disabilities and if not, could we have something in the next update for it?

@cloverperidot in Sims 4 Game Options there's an Accessibility section. It could use a bit of work, you can adjust pointer size which I've had to do because I have Repetitive Strain Injury amongst other things and my grip/dexterity isn't great. I found though, the pointer is just easier to see when I didn't need that but instead I actually wanted it to be easier to hit/grab items with it.

You can also adjust the UI but actually I've just tested that out for the purposes of replying to your post, using the slider doesn't actually allow you to go much further with it or you get a warning it will bleed off the screen. It will depend on the platform you're using. I'm on Xbox Series X, the controls are less painful to use for me (usually) than a keyboard and mouse.

There is an Accessibility Forum here that might be helpful:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Accessibility/ct-p/accessibility-en

Players have been discussing differently abled Sims for a while too so you never know, we might see something in the future.

    Hope this helps.
