I had a royal family and I was killing the dad off for the plot but all the children lost their prince and princess titles including the heir. The heir just went down to the first stage of the noble career. Is there any way to fix this without having to make the heir work to be king or having to cheat his and his siblings titles back to what they were? I am also on ps5 so I don't have any mods.

Hello,
This is currently functioning as designed. Please feel free to provide your feedback on this design choice here if you'd like.

Does this happen even if the family members (including the Heir) are in the noble career? Do they lose their position? That seems to be an error imo. They should retain their titles IF it is from their noble career.
It does kind of make sense they would lose their titles from the family member Monarch dying; if they only have their titles becasue of their relatiomship with the Monarch and not their career. The Heir should retain the title as the Heir would be in the Noble Career, imo.
Another problem to add to the growing list.

Here's the best way I have to describe it.
A King marries a woman who becomes a Queen by marriage.
They have three sons, the eldest Prince being the "Heir."
If the King dies, the eldest Prince becomes King, but his mother and siblings lose their royal titles and become commoners.
Surely this isn't intended? In actual nobility the Queen would become either a Dowager Queen or Queen Mother. The siblings would still be Princes or they may get a different noble title, but they wouldn't become commoners.
Can we please add Dowager Queen/King at the very least when a sim's royal spouse dies?

Interestingly enough, with my testing, child aged sims do not lose their royal title. Only Teens and up have so far.

for me (i had 1 sibling and the heir in the noble career and 1 sibling not in a career) the heir got the title, the career sibling got the career title, and the non-career sibling became a normal sim. so yes 'as designed' and not a bug, but it's just a weird choice? why would they loose their title, that's not how nobility works. the siblings of the king are still princes and princesses? why would they randomly become non-nobles

I merged your post with the main thread on this.

I find this a bizarre design choice too. I'm interested in the pack but this does put me off somewhat.

Yeah Please pass along the feedback!
In real life if a Queen Consort's husband dies, they would become Dowager Queen.
The Prince's and Princesses would still keep their titles, but their heir would become King/Queen.
I really think a Dowager Queen/King title should be added when a Sim becomes a widow. You wouldn't lose nobility just because your spouse/parent died.
You wouldn't have any ruling power, but you would still be honored with noble titles and have a place in court.
