Sims preferring bathing over showering autonomously

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.109.185.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Almost all of them
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Click the button to auto-solve hygiene.
What happens when the bug occurs? The sim will 100% of the time use the bath in the house rather than any of the 1-tile showers (they'll go multiple floors to do this instead of using the shower on the same floor as them). The showers work fine if I click on them and tell them to use it.
What do you expect to see? Sims should go to the closest shower to them.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

As it says above, sims won't use showers when I use the auto-solve function, only the bathtubs. I disabled mods and managed to have a sim use the shower (through auto-solve) at higher hygiene, but they went straight back to the bathtub at lower (yellow/red) hygiene. Any ideas on what the issue may be?

  • @Trixilii This has always been the case and isn't a bug (unfortunately)

If it doesn't work if you have showers only, then it's a bug,

Bath always takes priority over showers but it should work if you have only showers.

  • Thank you for the response. I have no idea how I never noticed this in my 6 years of playing, haha! I guess I only used to build with showers and only just recently started putting baths.

In fairness, I can see both sides of the coin with this one. When we think about this more... "realistically," some people prefer baths, as it can offer more comfort and enjoyment... especially when soaking with bubble baths, essential oils/herbs, or mud. while others prefer a quick wash in a shower... especially with a showerhead that can produce a "rainfall" type of effect, which to some can be found soothing and release sore muscle tension. To each their own.

Yet, I agree.. they should each be be preferred on the basis of a Sim's personality trait, mood, or other preferences... not be designed to just automatically go for the tub each time.
