brenjay91 for years players have asked for autonomous flirting to be toned down. It's something that many of us feel should be controlled by the player because it often resulted in inappropriate relationships, like with committed Sims flirting with others. Sims were gaining romance bars with strangers on the street. I often had to exit my game without saving to get rid of a romance bar with a random Sim, or delete that Sim. We reported it as a bug because it was adversely affected our storylines. For example I had a mother's new husband flirt with her daughters autonomously and ruin that new blended household. So for those reasons so many players wanted this tuned out as much as possible to give us control over our Sims relationships and romance bars. Even the Unflirty and Romantically Reserved Sims were affected. Flirty group conversations in bars ruined dates, the list of problems goes on.
You can make your Sims more flirty with personality traits, make them Beguiling with a Reward Trait, get them to watch Romance TV to make your Sims more flirty. Add flirty items to your lots such as Flirty Paintings to create a flirty mood.

I agree. Romance adjustments were needed.
The inappropriate flirting within families was terrible. Rotating between households and dealing with an unhappy couple and low satisfaction was terrible.

Toned down yeah…not cease to exist. I don’t agree, it’s a T rated game, I haven’t seen any innapropriate relationships, unless you mean glitches or bugs? But if your looking for an E rated game the sims isn’t it. And no offense but I didn’t make the romance thing the main reasoning here. I’m explaining the sims are mostly just standing around even with one another around.
They’re not behaving any different from one another. Sims with the flirty trait and romance traits should flirt more than other sims, all my sims are suddenly obsessed with books, if I don’t give my sim the bookworm trait why are they all acting like that? I want my sims to have personalities without me having to make them do things, part of the fun is watching what they will do, yes some people like to micromanage everything like a doll house and maybe your that kind of player but I like my game to have surprises with what my sims will do and their traits should exist for a reason, if I create an evil sim they should be more hostile, if I create a good sim they should be more friendly and check on other sims. My sims were doing all these things before the latest update, after years of people Criticizing their weren’t behaving any different the game was finally getting somewhere and now it feels like it’s taken a major step back.Theres also been a lot of complaints about the lack of autonomous romance all over online since the last update. Why would anyone buy lovestruck now? If we can’t have more romance in the game autonomously. I want my sims to still develop relationships without me micromanaging all of it. I think the major problem with paralives and that other simulation game I can’t think of the title but it’s that you have too micromanage everything. And while those games work if your that kind of player, but the sims has never been like that and that’s what makes it stand apart. Theres a reason this game has lasted as long as it has and it’s because of the unexpected. So while I respect your opinion I don’t agree and think if you think the game is too mature themed then you should play a rated E simulation game. Because the game itself is not too mature for its T rating and the last thing this game needs is to be toned down, respectfully.

To give you an example - Inappropriate autonomous romance I had were father/adult daughter, siblings, step parents that raised the child then flirting with that grown up child. It's not right for any rating. This isn't flirty; it is dysfunction.
There had to be adjustments and guardrails. The family tree must have in-game meaning and not be just a graphic. While this was possible in the game I couldn't have a multigenerational household. I had to move children out as soon as they became adults. It affected all aspects of family life. Certainly wasn't the Lovestruck that I expected. This was a legacy game and I couldn't remove Lovestruck. I had no option but file bug reports or quit playing. This behavior is what caused me to become active in EA Forums.
This is just one part of the autonomy conversation.
Adjustments made and I don't have this anymore.
FYI - PC, Never mods and at that time, never CCScreenshots taken July 2025
Sept 2025 Different household. Stepfather kissing stepdaughter that he raised from a baby. At Winterfest family gathering. Autonomous. Talk about ruining the holiday. It was gross.

Yeah you realize that’s a glitch or bug that needs to be fixed not the game right?
