Store more items?

I would like if there were more items able to be stored in containers instead of having to take up inventory space. I've noticed this primarily since I started playing with Eco Lifestyle, since I can't store the Bio-Fuel cans my sim continues to collect from insect farms, nor can I store super fertilizer.

I'd like to be able to store a lot more things (things that can be moved around in Live mode) and make use of those misc. storage containers. Some things I'd like to be able to put away in Live mode (not exhaustive, just the ones that come to mind):

• Sleeping bags
• Bio Fuel
• Fertilizer (specifically those Super Fertilizer bags)
• University acceptance letters
• Handheld vacuums
• School projects 
• The play tent (Dream Home Decorator)
• Toddler potties

I'm not sure if there are technical limitations making this more difficult than it sounds, but all in all I think my gameplay would be made that much better if I didn't have to clutter up my Sims inventories or have to put things in my home inventory, and instead have a middle ground of putting them in a storage container.
