Switching game platforms
I had a similar conundrum because of my current PC hardware, graphics but having an Xbox one, we have a few other Playstation and switch.
(This post has some extraenous background maybe a TLDR, so you can skip to dotted lines at bottom for my more specific request. I often have trouble with focus, it's just always been that way sorry).
Plus my brother a gamer, but he likes collecting older rigs and throwback games from our childhood. I've always been more a PC gamer, but half the time my stuff is always outdated in some way. I used to have medium rigs back in my college days. But the cost of PC parts slightly b4, during and up to now continues to push me away from PC content. I only have a laptop and it's not even a good one sadly.
I brought most of the games expansions and game packs, with maybe a few select stuff packs, so I certainly feel I contributed alot toward this game. Even though 2 and 3 (had quite a bit more going for them design wise). Been a player since the original, my high school and college days.
I guess it's a testament to how fun Sims games can be, but "the sims" especially. I did not really become a decent builder until 3.
And to be fair it took me until 4 when I just did not care for the base game designs that I really pushed myself to think outside the box with how I designed. It doesn't hurt if you follow a plan, but some of mine were totally off my head like my 20x20 house. Or my vacation home, and others I used a few floor plans to help point me in the right direction, and sometimes I just looked at still pictures from movies if I was looking at int.design or outside layout. To be fair, back I'm middle school I started on basic CAD programs and really enjoyed my robotics and CAD intros.
It's a shame I couldn't have done more in high school to direct me onto college paths for design. I kinda focused on medical learning in high school, though I changed my mind alot in college. There are times I still have regrets about wondering if design couldn't have been a thing for me. I'm obviously not a pro, but I know I have an eye for it. My dad is a great designer too, only he often worked with wood and electronics and sometimes things like car painting and repair.
I had always wish I had half his talent (it wasn't a true envy thing, but just wishing I had my own special but maybe different talent), but over the years I realized I was always selling myself short. What I went to school for was something my dad would have never chose, but then again I probably wouldn't have went for electronics. He almost had his degree but back in 80s they pulled his funding and by the time he could go back, some of his stuff was outdated. So, he took his lumps and moved on. My dad has his flaws, but in his own way he taught me if you can learn a little about alot, then you can be a valuable asset. He's in poor health now, so I try to take care of him. Sad part is very few others would, my brother is a big help too.
Back during sim1 days, dad was really good with different mesh programs and he was responsible for the several of the celebrity Sims you saw about, the Maynard Keenan one, plus several different frame additions. Think he made a David Bowie Sim caused I begged him. Thanks dad, you always tried to make us smile with our silly requests, though dad always took his time, but I never rushed h8m as I never wanted to demoralizing any progress. Often he'd go over about designing stuff, but I'll admit, it often went over my head. Back in those days, my life was filled with study, so I mostly played Sims for story and hilarity.
Over time I realized I really got therapeutic value in design, suddenly anxiety seemed to reduce during stressful exam or just learning to mellow out in stressful times. And I like that while I may also like some tense games like shooters or thriller zombie games...there's bigger parts of me that cherish these games, or other builder games, or even Rpgs with sandbox builders into them like fallout 4 (building...I came up with a great starting town. I was fixed every door and window. Got to lv 5 before I ventured out lol, good way to get early lvs). I also enjoyed house flipper but felt like I could do more, but since I knew it was meant to be relaxing it didn't overly bother me.
Anyway, long story short (I love design and making up my own stories). I admit I'm not too great at Sim design, but every now and then I can have a good idea there. So, I usually don't post alot about my own life, or the value I've found in design. But I had to find the drive to either do better or learn more. It all starts there. So, I tech still belong to gen-x but was kinda born at the start of millennial, my daughter rode the tail end of millennial. Guess her kid would be alpha one day (who makes up their generation b4 the next generation gets here lol, like ppl can see into the future).

Anyway, just wanted to say. I understood how b222 like he didn't want to pay for content he already bought and this makes sense. If content is made differently between systems some of us might understand but if you A)link your account to prove you had the PC content which I did, and if you go through that trouble, isn't really hard to open previous content especially since it's straight ports from PC to console.
Just like if you buy packs you never bought on console, it would be nice to get the unlock for PC too, so you aren't double charged (imagine if they did that in other real world places, like charging $10 for coffee, well it depends on where you live and basic black used to be the cheapest drink lol). I actually prefer cold or hot cappu lol, but I've been on big health kick lately limiting sugar, caffeine and doing loads of exercise, slacked off this week because it was pretty busy, but I'm usually at gym 3-5 times a week, unless major things happen in the week.
And it gets hard once you pass the over 30 or 40 mark, trying to get the energy for it can be hard, but I do think doing it can give you more, if you bring 1 or 2 light snacks. Sometimes I fell maybe my blood sugar goes low about half through. My parents are diabetics, though I'm not but with both of them with it...well it's something I'm really concerned with. It starts out slow, and gets worse if you don't watch the sugar and get alot of exercise. It's hard work, but I've been doing this more regular for 4 months now. To be fair, I've always been pretty active in my life, in high school I was in junior reserve, in college I took tennis and self defense, after college I started walking a track and did that for over a year, maybe 2. And I've always been the one cleaning the most, though I'm not OCD thankfully, just few others to help.
Anyway, got a bit off track there. Am I turning into my old Latin teacher who was nice but had trouble focusing but she was 80 admittedly. Sadly the women in my family do have trouble with memory, so that's another thing I try to work on.
So, sorry if this was roundabout, and obviously I don't whine about things happening fast, but is content unlock possible for ppl who linked their accounts. It would be nice. I know there's way more support for PC. I would also like to help test out console bugs a bit more, I fear for save assurance in console but I learned long ago saving my work often is important, just don't know how saves work as I got one new pack I didn't have for PC, but just wish all my PC content would carry between profiles, especially because they are straight ports.
Otherwise, I'll probably only buy packs I don't have on console and keep what I have on PC. Only downside I fear is limited support for console, as long as major bugs are worked that's OK but I won't complain on little stuff, just game crashes or saves not working.
I bought the rent one (though since apt were already in city one I wasn't fully sure if this was best use of a pack other than some hilarity with being an landlord, I'll reserve my thought until I go through it, and other than having multi lvs with that pack, whereas city is 1 or 2 floors max)
Which out of all the console ones 'rent' gets 2 star, most others get 3 or 4) but I'm sure on PC it hopefully is not that bad. I do feel alot of bad reviews on console are ppl who can't find the install button lol, yeah it's bit obscured but not terrible. Main issue reported there was rent prices not adjusting up, but think you guys patched that, so no new reviews in 2024. I do read them to get an idea of bugs or crashes myself. I know weird hobby right, but I genuinely want to help make games better by being aware.
Thank you for the time, some of this was not needed, but I thought I might share my real world self journey exploring creative places. I hope someone found this a bit helpful or maybe a good distraction. I haven't been on in last year except here and there because "life stuff" and economy wise things have been a bit rough than previous year. I've moved twice in 2 1/2 yrs. I hate moving, it's so costly and I packing, only thing that makes that bearable is, oh so that's where that went to. But that's always crushed by, how long has this item been missing 😕 😆.
