The Sims 4 has been awful this year (RANT)
This is my rant of how The Sims 4 has been this year in my experience with playing it.
The Sims 4 has become an absolute bloated mess!! First of all, they added an incredibly USELESS feature on the game UI, which is that DREADED SHOPPING CART ICON that is supposed to show 'packs you may like' without exiting the save file. NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS, and it's incredibly pointless by the fact that if you bought a pack through this feature, you would need to restart the game anyway, making this shopping cart icon a nuisance and extremely redundant! I'd highly suggest installing the mod that gets rid of it, as if it was never even added in the first place.
Secondly, they said in May 2024 that they assembled a team that would be going out of their way that would be fixing these problems, which did NOT age well at all!! Right now I'm waiting for the outdoor lighting on the indoor ceiling to be fixed because I still have projects that are beyond OVERDUE to be done. Was gonna get one of these done on July 27, 2024, but had to postpone it because the ceiling was an eyesore, and yes it's a big problem for me because I take thousands of screenshots with these projects I do (I've taken over 50,000 screenshots in the past 2 years of playing). Needless to say, I haven't noticed ANY difference in terms of them trying to fix bugs, especially since I'm STILL waiting for the ceiling to be fixed!! I'm literally going through all of August 2024 with this glitched ceiling STILL present, and I've never been this frustrated with a Sims 4 bug before (this is definitely the worst)!!
Thirdly, the implementation of Daily Rewards into The Sims 4. I know this was scrapped, but it was incredibly annoying when it was still a thing, so I'm adding this here anyway. It's a complete nuisance the way it worked. Didn't want to partake in the Daily Rewards? Your only option was to spam the ESC key to bypass this big pop-up! Didn't claim the rewards on time? Unclaimed stuff is gone forever! Also, these were only saved to the local folder and not to your account. Again, I know this was scrapped, but I still decided to make a rant about it when it was still a thing. This actually made me ask myself, "Is The Sims 4 about playing the game, or is it about getting stuff for the game??"
Now I'm at the point now where once I get my last projects that I still need to do in The Sims 4 done (after the ceiling is fixed obviously), I will be retiring from The Sims 4 completely! It served me well for the past couple of years, and it was the game that got me into The Sims, since I got The Sims 4 back in May 2022, but my purpose for it is nearing its end.
Have a day, I guess...
