The Sims 4 on iPad Pro
What is EA waiting for? iPad Pro has the power to run the REAL The Sims 4 (and expansions), not that “mobile” version full of in-app purchases to do everything. Will EA release a TS4 iPadOS version...
iPad can run the game, it’s for sure. Now we can easily use bluetooth keyboards and mouses or xbox controllers to play the games without touch interface on the iPads.
But it’s still a different OS and it needs big investment and profits from it. There are not so many owners of last iPad Pro around the world, that the development to be successful and, as far as I know, the Sims 5 is in pre-alpha now. Also, not every devs are ready to give 30 or even 15% of sales proceeds with Apple
So, we’ll have to wait until Apple’s macOS on iPad’s release, which is more realistic scenario than EA to port the game on iPadOS. Or, maybe, we’ll see the Sims 5 on it soon!
Yeah, again, speaking as someone who works for a non-game software company...
They would need to compile the game to run on iOS and also block devices that aren't powerful enough, and they might also need to tweak it so that it works with touch, and honestly they already have Sims Mobile and Sims Freeplay that run on iOS. So that would be a lot of work to create a product to compete with their other products in the iOS market.
Also, iOS and android games usually take into account a different use pattern where the user will play the game while waiting in the parking lot, or standing in line, or waiting for an appointment, and they'll be randomly interrupted. The Sims 4 is intended to be played by a user sitting down in front of a PC/laptop/Mac/console and devoting their full attention to what they're doing.
