The Stuff Packs Are Getting Smaller?

The latest Stuff Packs are smaller, like the size of Kits.  I checked.  On my Xbox One/ Xbox Series S, new packs "Home Chef Hustle" & "Crystal Creations", they are only 10.1 MB.  A Kit is usually around 10 to 50 MB.  They do differ.  Also, that Bonus Content you get is about the same size as those Kits.  I remember the scale EA gave about Packs and Kits.  Expansion Packs are supposed to be "Large", on Xbox they are like 1 to 2 GB.  Game Packs are supposed to be "Medium", on Xbox, they are 500 MB or more.  Stuff Packs are supposed to be "Small", on Xbox, they are 100 or 150 MB, if not more.  And final Kits & Bonus Content, they are "Tiny", on Xbox, they are as small as 10 MB, sometimes more.  When I bought Crystal Creations today, I was surprised at how quick it downloaded.  I thought it was a glitch, I checked it.  And it was 10 MB.  I own "all of the packs" and "most of the kits".  Home Chef Hustle is 10 MB too.  I checked all of the sizes in Manage App on Xbox Series S, it the same for Xbox One S.  To make a long story short, We Should Not Be Paying For KITS disguised as STUFF PACKS!  Stuff Packs are $9.99, and Kits are $4.99.  Whether you play on PC, PS4 or Xbox One, these figures are about the SAME.  I've played on PC and PS4, but now its mainly on Xbox One.  The Sims 4 is an Awesome game.  But please don't over charge us.  If it is a STUFF PACK or KIT, please keep your words and follow your own scales and prices.  Don't disguise them.  10.1 MB is too small to be a Stuff Pack, just "wait" until you have more content before you release them.  Most people won't catch on.  Thank you for your time.

@angelboi7531I think this latest one looks deceptively small but once you've created everything with it it's actually the biggest amount of content we've got. It's just not there at the start.
On console the actual storage of the jewellery items themselves is a slight concern for me as the items worn by the Sim remain as an inventory item while worn. Storing a lot in Sims inventories across multiple households can be a cause of lagging and crashing. So I'm going to keep an eye on that on my Xbox Series X. I haven't looked at the file sizes on my console but that's how I would explain the size of this pack. It's a pack where it's content is created by you and will require more storage as you go along.🎮

@angelboi7531You can just take a photo with a phone or tablet then attach it to your post. That's how I do it with images from my Xbox.

Edit: I took an image of the Crystal Creations file size and it's 10.1mb. But as I mentioned earlier, in reality the size is relative to how many items you end up creating with it in your game.

@simsplayer818 Thank you for laying that to rest for me. I knew that I wasn't making it up. I just don't want essential packs to get smaller. I am a big fan of the Sims period. The Sims 1 through 4. I'll be playing The Sims 5 too, I just hope it will be on console. But honestly, to tell you the truth. I feel that The Sims 4's life is being stretched out. I'm ready for The Sims 5 on my Xbox Series S. Or at least like some existing games, a Xbox Series S version of The Sims 4. Like Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S or PS4 and PS5 Versions of the same game. They should make on upgrade.
  • @atreya33 Cool. The Sims 4 is a great game but what's with the new shopping cart feature? I already own all of it, what's next ads in game? lol. Still an awesome game!

Luckily I was spared from the cart, for now. I bought the pack through the EA app. The info of the file size was shown in the EA app while installing. I used that time to download updates for my mods.

@angelboi7531rest assured nobody would suggest you were making it up. It is a very surprising file size indeed. I downloaded it twice to be absolutely certain because I wondered if there was an issue somewhere. It's next to courtyard oasis which looks huge by comparison and it's the same size as some kits. I looked at it and thought "that can't be right". But a second download confirmed it. I'm also baffled when compared with the size of the PC version.
But, with that said file size is not our friend on console. The smaller the better to prevent stability issues according to Microsoft support. They told me that the size of packs on the Sims can be a trigger for crashes. So if we can have this great pack in a smaller file size that's great. With over 1000 items included it's enormous in practice. So still great value for me. I've been creating jewellery for days and barely scratched the surface of what we can create. I'm going to need a second jewellery store to sell it all!
With Sims 5 I think we might have a wait on console but hopefully not too long although I'm not ready to wrap up Sims 4 yet I do have a slight concern about how much more we can fit into the console version in terms of processing power. The console can only handle so much.
The Sims 5 board is here if you haven't yet got involved:

Edit: also here's a full breakdown of the items that can be created with the pack
