I came to Sims 4 very late (around L&D), so I haven't had years of disappointment yet, but been playing Sims since SimEarth. I feel for those who have been sticking it out for years with Sims 4.
I have a post about the frustration of the current bug report system and how it makes both devs and players accountable for many bugs not getting fixed because it isn't a great system.
I also try to play devils advocate, and it doesn't exactly do me any favours either. I try to be fair and firm about devs and EA representation and sometimes—I get punished for it. I think they need to re-evaluate how they handle the community. They also need more transparency.
Yes, times are tough and they need to make money to keep the game going. But they also need to have a certain level of quality too, and franchise loyalty should mean something.
