Personally, I don’t think they are listening. They state their reason for keeping it alive forever is so we don’t have to “start over” in a new game. But we’re not starting over, we’re having a fresh experience. Many Sims 4 players still play The Sims 3, The Sims 2, and The Sims.
Another reason this idea is foolish is the state of The Sims 4 itself. The For Rent bug has not been fixed yet, and it’s causing Simmers to lose years of gameplay and generations of Sims families. Isn’t this precisely the thing they were trying to avoid? The more they add to a dying game the more issues will arise, and there are already so many I don’t think they are keeping up.
Don’t they wonder why so many people are threatening to boycott The Sims 4 as soon as InZOI releases? We’re crying for a fresh experience in the life Sim genre. If EA are listening, they’d reconsider not making a Sims 5.
Eh... aren't they just saying the "don't have to start over" thing because so many players threatened to not buy a Sims 5 because they have spent so much money on Sims 4, yet still after a ridiculous amount of DLC we still do not have everything previous the Sim generations had? It is a pretty ironic take, however, since those who made such threats will just continue to pay for more packs that don't have enough content.
"I'll keep spending an insane amount of money on this crappy game until it has given me all the things I've wanted from it!"
Yeah... 🤨
I keep seeing Simmers asking for new gameplay and suggesting new pack ideas... but I cringe. Quit asking for things and instead demand for the game to be fixed or make suggestions to improve already existing packs without needing new coding. Adding in more coding just makes it run worse. If such a thing were possible to achieve, there should be reimbursements for the money wasted on DLC that should have been sold at a cheaper price - alas, we foolishly bought on our own free will.
