Why the hate?

I have literally been playing the sims since day one of the sims.  I was at the computer store as soon as it was open to buy the disks for the sims.  That means decades of me playing the sims.  This name Valairia1 has been on the forums since the sims.

I keep supporting and buying for the sims franchise and i haven't been unhappy. Sure there are bugs and glitches but that happens in a lot of games.  If you hate the sims? why are you buying the sims stuff? I watch youtube creators and hear a ton of vitriol and still the keep buying stuff. If you don't like it don't buy it.

Trolls on the forums, youtube, facebook are annoying me.  I want to have fun and try to provide constructive feedback to EA to fix the bugs.  I am not sure, if all they hear is negative, why they would try to fix or relate to us as a community?  The developers are trying to fix stuff and come up with new stuff.  I am in no hurry to see a sims 5 since i really like 4. So in the spirit of holiday cheer, let us focus on what we love about the sims and give a break to complaining.  It is, in the end, just a game, an expensive game, but just a game

  • I wouldn't call it hate, more frustration that is expressed in a negative way.  Many of us have spent tons of money on this game, and also gotten tons of fun out of it. But when bugs interrupt the fun people get frustrated, especially when they don't get fixed.

I do agree that a more positive approach is better and gives more motivation for the team to get things fixed, but leaving feedback in the written form on internet can be misinterpreted, someone might have meant something nice but whoever read it might have taken it as something negative. Like this reply, I mean well and no harm, but someone who reads it might see it as something negative.

With that said, I wish you a festive winter season with lots of laughs and happiness!

The team has had positive feedback from many simmers for 10 yrs.

The game is a mess for most players today with bugs in many EP's that have not been solved..at some point people who invest in this game need to start demanding fixes before requesting new DLC.

Adding recycled, redressed gameplay is not what I am use to after playing 1,2 and 3.

Fixing the base is good but it is not adding new and exciting gameplay which is what a lot of simmers want.

Love and Hate always come together, sometimes Hate is an expression of intense Love. For example Jealousy is a form of Hate based on Love.

Some parents may have too high expectations for their children, so they may be disappointed but it doesn't mean that they don't love them. Just they want the best life for them.

Some players have a similar relationship with The Sims.

They hate because they care, because they still play, the game have been out for 10 years, EA talks about how many people that are playing the sims4 but how many people are leaving because they are frustrated? Or take long breaks because they get tired or annoyed? Some might try to come back but don't feel the same joy as before because of limitations or because they want something new. And when packs uses the same framework as the same packs that they sold 8 years ago, patience runs out for people.

Some things in the game can be really frustrating to deal with, especially if you don't have mods, that makes people lose patience. Right now I can't play in San Myshuno because the market is bugged and is overflowing with objects, things like that makes people angry. I sure am not happy because of it because City Living was my favorite pack and now it's broken.

For a lot of people the sims4 is escapism, and if that escapism doesn't work that is frustrating and makes people feel worse.

Additions to the game since it became free to play have made people frustrated, they have paid for the packs but still see ads for packs that they own, or an ad for a pack that they don't own every time they start the game, of course they will be frustrated.

Because the game have been going for over 10 years, if you are using a low-spec computer you can easily end up with too much so you start seeing issues, go to the technical issues forums and answer hq, loads of people are unable to play, that makes people frustrated.

They are frustrated because of the decisions that have been made regarding the sims.

If more development had been going into this franchise, things like this could maybe have been avoided.

    I totally agree.

I'm tired of all the negativity. I really enjoy the sims 4, this game has been a major source of entertainment for me for years. I love when new content comes out. It blows my mind how much people complain about the free events and free content. It's free!  I get really excited when new DLC is introduced. I can't wait for the next road map.

  • Simming 20 years. This is the most glitched version of the game, IMO. And after spending close to $1000 on this game, we should not have to spend more time trying to figure out why EA can't get it's act together and puts out expansions, updates or "special events" without us losing all of the time they have spent on a game save only to see it gone so quickly. Or to spend weeks trying to figure out why their game suddenly won't load or has suddenly became so messed up it is unplayable. It is frustration with EA taking us for granted. And when you come on here for help, being told its you, not EA. Extremely frustrating!

I could not agree with you more. I have already told the few groups I am in (by the way they are all 3 of them great groups) I am leaving facebook as of Friday.  The mean girl syndrome is large there.  Thank you for the positive post and I bet the gurus have been shocked today as I did one earlier too! Welcome to the positive simmers club!

  • Well put. I love the Sims 4 and have no plans of moving on, when Sims 5 comes out. Mostly because hubby is facing retirement, which means for us, a fixed income. No money for frivolous things. I am content to play this game. Merry Christmas, Everyone!
