a nonstop thunderstorm is ruining my game play....and my character's moods

(iskl Sims Freeplay the same as using the pc for your sims4 game?)

I have the seasons game pack as well as numerous other expansions.  I've been playing the Cottage Living.  Unfortunately, a few months ago, while my sim's town was in Spring, a thunderstorm started.  It continued.  Oh well, I thought.  Summer was coming and it would stop....  Nope.  The entire summer season the thunderstorm raged on.  complete with lightening strikes etc.  My main Sims character was struck by lightening while trying to take care of the damned chickens.  So there my family was with an orphaned baby, a teen taking care of her little sister, etc.  And the storm raged on....and on, and on.  Now it's the last week of fall, and the storm has not let up for one day.  It messes with the sims trying to milk the cows.  The baby toddler is always afraid of the thunderstorm.  All my other characters are now cowards who run inside as soon as they hear noise.  It takes all day to milk the cows and feed the chickens....

I have unchecked the allow thunderstorm box in the game play option.  I even unchecked the allow weather box.  but that still doesn't work.  The thunderstorm rages on and it's no longer fun trying to play when all the characters are scared all the time, the toddler is always crying because of the thunder and the rain keeps falling, and thunder keeps exploding.... My cat even runs out of my room when she hears the thunder now.

I do have a mod downloaded, but it was download AFTER the thunderstorm of the century had already been raging for a month. (real time, two seasons sims time)

any ideas?

FreePlay is not the same as The Sims 4

They are two different games, made by two different studios, played on two different platforms

I have moved your post to TS4

Here's something you can try.  Buy a Dr. June's weather machine and upgrade it until you can the weather.  Then change the weather to clear skies.  That should get the T-storms to stop for a while.  When it starts to T-storm again, just change the weather again.

The machine does reset whenever you travel so you will need to change the weather again when you get home again.

I know what you mean about having T-storms constantly.  I haven't ever had it be as bad as you've described but I have had it T-storm for 42 out of 44 days in the spring, summer and fall in Brindleton Bay once before I figured out what the weather machine could do.  It is not fun playing when the game does that.  Since I figured it out, it hasn't happened again because I change the weather now in some worlds on a regular basis.

    Hope this helps.

  • I was going to suggest unchecking the "allow thunderstorms" box but it sounds like you've done that.  Have you restarted your game? because otherwise it sounds like something is wrong. It does sound like someone else is reporting this, so maybe click "Me, too."  https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Thunderstorms-won-t-turn-off-in-Henford-on-Bagley/m-p/10543989#M192418

Some worlds just have horrible weather.  Namely Brindleton Bay storms all summer and Henford-on-Bagley seems to do that, too.  (Sulani has violent storms in the winter.)

The last-ditch suggestion is to move your entire household, including the cows and chickens, to someplace like Oasis Springs (no thunderstorms!).  I know, that's not the gameplay you signed up for, but... good grief.  I'd try the Weather Machine first, although do be careful about using it if your Sim is dazed because they'll probably die.

  • This is a current problem I’m dealing with. Honestly I’m not all that surprised 2 years later it still isn’t fixed

@F0r3sk1n3at3r This isn't a currently known issue. Do you use mods? Are you playing with any mods or CC in your Mods folder? If so, please start at Broken/Updated Mods (pinned in this forum). If you still have issues after removing and replacing mods (don't forget to delete localthumbcache), see what happens after you drag that folder to your desktop and delete localthumbcache. (Don't save, though! Or test in a new game.) I

f you don't use mods, please try a clean folder: Exit Sims 4 then drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop. Launch Sims 4 and reset your Options. Exit and copy over your saves and see if you can recreate the issue, possibly by loading an earlier version of your current game.

If you can reproduce the issue this way, please post in Bug Reports.

It should be, no mods, no cc, is a brand new folder because I was using a different version. I’m now on steam and it is an issue. Sounds like it never got fixed in the first place.

@F0r3sk1n3at3r Head over to Bug Reports with this, then. Keep a copy of the save it's an issue in in case it's requested for testing.

  • The post is old, but for those researching this. There's a weather machine to be built on a lot that changes weather. That's one way. The other needs Realm of Magic, and a mod for climatio spell. To me that one is better, it has advance seasons too. Hope it helps those researching this.

Hey @dodesskiy , thanks for the extra workaround! I'm locking this thread to prevent further necroposting though, but appreciate you taking the time to help others 🙂
