You could always just age them up immediately. Have baby, immediately age up newborn to infant, make a cake, immediately age up infant to toddler, put the candles back on the cake, and age them up again to child. 🤷🏼♀️
It’s a bit more hassle than being able to turn life stages off but it will still jump you to child quickly.
@ScottRochat I didn't find an option to age up the newborn to an infant immediately, but after maybe a few days (it may have come up as an option before three days... I just didn't see it emerge right away?) you will get the 'Age Up' option under the newborn's 'care' options in it's pie menu... Edit to above, as @PipMenace pointed out, the 'age up' option for the newborn does not take a few days... I just played my own pregnant Sim, and I found that the 'age up' option was not there initially - right after birth, however, I had my Sim mom feed the baby, had dad do a couple of interactions and mom a couple, then I saved and left my game. When I got back on, I checked the pie menu options for the newborn and the 'age up' option was there. 🙌
Once the infant is a newborn, I was able to age them up in CAS to whatever age I want. I was able to get the aging options by: First, enable testing cheats and then enable cas.fulleditmode (click links for directions if needed)... then:
I could just open the family's CAS by having a parent active/selected, then clicking on a mirror and choosing "Change Sim":
This will open a pop-up with full edit options for all household members. There you will have the option to age up the infant to whatever age you want:
The second option was to, with the testing cheats and full edit cheats enabled (directions above), hold down the shift key and click on the infant. This will open the full edit CAS for the infant that I mentioned above.
The third option was to age the infant up via a cake. This can be done without any cheats enabled, and can be done as soon as you've aged them up from newborn to infant, or later, of course.

Edit: Apologies for posting after you, @PipMenace ...I had been building with the new pack and am just going in today to do final testing... and to finally play my family with the grandparents and pregnant couple (and further test my home with the infant stuff!), so though I am very anxious to run through the infant experiences in slow motion, I had to pop in a couple from the gallery with a newborn to run these tests, so it took me a bit of time to make my reply, and just finally got it posted. I've never used the same cake over to age up more than once in a row (it hadn't occurred to me), so I found your tips interesting and helpful. 🙌 Also... You said you could immediately age the infant up after being born, but I was snot seeing that option now right away (as described above) ...Any tips on what I'm doing wrong that I don't see that option right away like you do?
@SheriGR Pretty sure you just have to wait a few seconds, maybe a minute. Or maybe just interact with them once or twice? But the age up action seems to unlock pretty quickly - it's just buried in the menu until you get to their actual birthday.
I reuse cakes all the time! I don't want my Sims eating them because they gain weight so easily, so I just put candles back on to make sure no one takes a slice and then pop it back in the fridge for the next birthday. It does eventually spoil, and you can't age up on a spoiled cake, but I usually get at least a couple birthdays out of it in a multi-Sim household.
@PipMenace Thanks for the info on how soon they can be upgraded to infant! I'm finally playing my own household for my new 'infant experience', so I'll watch for and keep that in mind! 🤗
Also, if you want to allow your Sims to splurge... have their cake and eat it too... there's a fantastic option that my Sims just love: If you get the 'Cool Kitchen Stuff' pack < https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/store/addons/the-sims-4-cool-kitchen-stuff >, you can have your Sim make the 'Taste of Diet' ice cream, and after 2-3 servings of it the slim down! Unless they're heavy, only have them have 1-2 servings (otherwise they can get a bit thin... if you have that happen, there's an ice cream to gain weight also!). So, in my game, if the Sims are putting on weight, I either target one of them that way - directing them about how many servings to have (works on chubby child Sims also), or I just have one of them make a batch and drag it to the refrigerator. They're like heat-seeking missiles (or cold-seeking?) and find it in the fridge and help themselves. (Thanks, @PugLove888 for that one ...one of my favorite Sims tips of all time!) 🙌
