Are Sims supposed to be sick & imbalanced like 90% of the time?

So I started a game yesterday with a sim, and even if her motives are kept all in the green, even if she's got mostly positive moods, even if she's doing things she loves every day and following her wants and whatever, she's sick like 90% of the time. When one finally ends, another begins a few game hours later. Sometimes a new illness will even start before the old one is supposed to end and it just switches over, so I don't even get a break from it. So she aways looks weird or is throwing up.

Was this intentional for sims to become imbalanced soooo often and soooooo easily? or is this a bug?

Did you give her  the Gnome Lure cure? That cure should help her.

That is one reason I am hesitant to get some packs. And it is unplayable without mods and tuning. I mean the non-stop anonymous water drinking alone....

Yes, this would have been smart. Getting this sickness more than once per week is ridiculous.

Also, if you go into game options & pack settings, you can uncheck it, but they will still get sick.

Also also... wanna hear something sad? Most of the settings in my pack settings are turned off. I buy the game & turn off the features because they implement the majority of them in the stupidest way possible.

I think they probably know it's going to be stupid, because they seem to put those features in there so we can turn them off. It's like they try it, they realize it's going to suck, and instead of coming up with a better idea and programming a more fun game, they sell us the game touting the features, and give us a way to shut them off so that when we inevitably start complaining about them, they could tell us to just turn it off. But they can still act like we got our money's worth, because all these features are part of the pack.

I love this game, but it would be so unplayable without  modders... they are so much better at making actual fun gameplay features that work well. Honestly I wish EA would just hire the modders to make new packs and/or updates.... or let them sell them and pay them a royalty program or something. Every time I take out my mods to make a clean slate for new patches & packs I go through this and realize h ow unplayable this game is without mods.

What they should have is a buff invisible to us or not, to prevent ailments after just finishing one. Like a grace period you can't get an ailment for at least 3 days after finishing the last one.

Wow, public bathrooms too? So far as I can see, Sims get imbalance ailments from:

    • depleted motives
    • any negative moodlets (even shared sadness when you just feel bad for a friend)
    • contact with other sims who have ailments (and most of them do)
    • the 'moody shrub' she's trying to grow
    • when gnomes are going to visit

And now I can add public bathroom use to that list? No wonder it seems like they can't catch a break. This epidemic is easier to catch than covid.

And there is actually a team in EA there who thought this was a good plan? Not one programmer said 'hmmm, that might be too much..."?

As they've done repeatedly, they take a simple idea that might actually be a fun addition to gameplay, only to go totally overboard on it until the point where it is so annoying when it effects every single sim that people end up disabling it altogether, or looking for mods to fix it.

Do they even bother to play test at all anymore before releasing a pack. ?

  • My Sim is well balanced and with good/neutral luck but always sick. I was told the ailment was probably caught on public toilets X / But this is way too often. I only get a couple/few hours of non-ailment time.
