@TopNotchToddler I already posted an explanation with workaround on that thread. To reiterate some of it here: The quality and value of certain items is calculated when that item enters the game. This includes books, paintings and artifacts among others. These values are connected to the sim who makes or finds the unauthenticated object. Skill levels, fame, career level, traits and possibly other statistics are used plus a random modifier at the time of the discovery (creation of the item). This means that if an item is imported via the gallery, library or the debug menu, or even if it's left in the household inventory when moving (which is an oversight), all multipliers are set to 0 as there's no sim attached to the item to boost value and quality. Only base values will then apply. This is unfortunate, but it's debug after all.

Thanks @DMDragonCT , there is a significant difference to paintings or e.g. potions, though, which will keep their value and quality. And that is great for backup, why shouldn't artifacts function the same way?

@TopNotchToddler Interesting. My own tests on the subject were conducted a while back, my most recent ones with books (originals, not copies), paintings more than a year ago and I don't have any experience with moving potions in and out of the game at all. It sounds like you have tested this already. Maybe there's an additional tag for these items now? If that's the case, then I must agree with you and the same should be done to artifacts so that they can retain their quality/value when exported/imported as well. Thanks for letting me know!

@DMDragonCTAs far as I can tell it is very mixed:
- Paintings: Keep their quality and value.
- Photos: Keep quality but drop value to default.
- Magic potions: Keep quality, haven't checked price.
- Artifacts: Lose both quality and value.
