Best laptop for sims 4?
I loveee sims and am looking for a good laptop for sims for that will run smoothly, fast, won't over heat easy and good graphics with most expansion packs and good to download various mods. I really ...
@moonlightfoxx Given the laptops you listed, you have plenty of room in your budget to get exactly what you want. Are there other features that matter to you? For example, do you care about screen size or brightness, or being able to run Sims 4 at higher framerates, or batter life (which will be longer with a dimmer screen), or storing large data collections such as movies or photos? Let me know what else you'd like to see in a laptop, as well as your budget and country, and I can take a look.
As for the specific laptops you listed, at least some of them come in several different configurations. So it would be easier if you linked the product pages, and I could see exactly what you're considering.
@xJaimerTheGamerx With this person's presumed budget, they could do a lot better than an Nvidia 1050, and they probably want to as well.
@puzzlezaddictYea I have been saving up for awhile for a new laptop, I really wanted to invest in a good quality system because I'll be using it a lot!
So here is a list of basic things that are important to me (mind you I am pretty tech illiterate when it comes to system specs ^^'..):
- A lot of storage and memory (like i said most sims packs and a lot of mods, and same other smaller games& personal stuff)
- Screen size 15"+
- Yes to higher frame rates
-probably double fans?(cooling)
-Good GPU
- battery life not as important so long as i can charge and use at same time.
- fast and smooth
I am from America and give or take $2100
-Asus ROG Strix Scar III
- Razer Blade 15 Advanced Model
- Alienware m17 R1
Thank you so so much for your help. Like I said I tried looking online and read a bit about these and I am open to anything I've just seen so many different answers online that aren't explained well (for tech dummies like me haha). I also will use it for smaller simple games and an art program..I'm not sure if I'm missing anything else thanks !
@moonlightfoxx If you're going to play Sims 4 at a resolution of 1920x1280, the typical resolution for laptop screens, and at a high fps, you don't really need more than an Nvidia 2060 (the mobile version). A 2060 mobile should average something around 120 fps, give or take a couple of worlds that don't run well in general, and the fact that Sims 4 itself doesn't always run perfectly.
A 2070 Max-Q is about 5% faster, and a 2070 mobile about 10-15% faster, than a 2060 mobile, depending on the game and who's running the benchmarks. If you wanted to spend more on a faster graphics card, you could certainly do so, but you won't get much of a boost in Sims 4, given that the difference between 120 and 140 fps is effectively imperceptible.
Most of these options have an Intel i7-9750H processor, which is more than powerful enough for any game you'd want to play. The newer 10750H is significantly stronger, but that extra power wouldn't make a difference unless you were doing processor-intensive tasks, e.g. compiling code or video editing. Even if newer games demand more of the CPU in the future, the limiting factor in any of these models will be the graphics card.
On the low end, so to speak, this Lenovo Y540 is on sale for $1,300. It gets good reviews for performance, it has a 2060 and a 1 TB solid state drive (more storage than almost anyone could use), and it has the same i7-9750H processor, 16 GB memory, and 144 Hz IPS display (the highest quality category of monitor) as the others.

The Lenovo Y740 gets excellent reviews and is available in a variety of configurations on the Lenovo website, some you can customize yourself. If you'd like help picking out the components, let me know.
This MSI Raider has an Nvidia 2070, a 17" screen, and a 512 GB SSD; and otherwise equal specs. It's $1,800 and only available for pre-order.
At the higher end, you could configure a Razer 15 or Razer Pro 17 to some degree, although a number of options are temporarily sold out. It looks like they should be back in stock sooner or later though.

Or, if one of these is what you want (2060 or 2070 Max-Q, 512 GB SSD), you could get it now:

Finally, this Asus ROG Strix will be available on Amazon again in a few weeks, or you could order it from a third-party. It's $1,750 from Amazon and has a 2060 and a 512 GB SSD.
I feel like I'm spamming you with links, but you really do have a lot of options here. If you'd like to get a sense of the strengths and weaknesses of each of these laptops, scroll down to the bottom of these reviews to see the rating in each category. The first and last ones are in German (I couldn't find English versions, sorry), but the numbers are clear enough. And then if you want to know more about a particular feature, you can scroll up to read the in-depth review.
MSI Raider (last year's model)
The gaming performance isn't exactly comparable, since some of the laptops reviewed have faster graphics cards, but you can get a sense of whether the laptop makes the most of the power it has. The other features should be the same for a given model.
@puzzlezaddict Yes I know they could do a lot better and probably should. Lol. Just that a lot of people I notice buy way high end laptops thinking The Sims 4 is some high end game when it really isn't. I played The Sims 4 on a old laptop that had no graphics card for 10 years with little problem. Although I don't think I had it on the highest settings or could? If she has the money yes she should go for a higher end laptop for sure with a better graphics card, GPU etc. I am saving up myself for a desktop for when I move out and get our own house etc. I recently bought a low budget laptop and it can also play The Sims 4, I just have to be careful with mods etc and not to put it on the highest setting possible in fear it can crap out the laptop later down the road, even if it does play it on very high graphics with no problems or delay. But by her later post it seems it would be worth her while to spend a couple grand on a laptop as it will be for good and long term use. Which you probably know more about than I do. I myself am a noob when it comes to computers. Gonna spend this next bit researching a ton before throwing a good chunk down on a desktop. Especially if I want to build it myself.
