Books going missing

@NLSutton92 Does the friend have the klepto trait? You can find the friend in 'Household Manager', then play that Sim (the friend). When you play the Sim you can check personal inventory and their home for your books. If you find the books you can make sure the books are in their personal inventory then have the Sim travel to your home and leave them there. If you're playing a klepto Sim you should also have an option to 'make them return the item' (not sure how the command is worded). 

@NLSutton92, in addition to what @SheriGR mentioned, if you have the new Eco Lifestyle EP your missing book problem could be linked to one of the active N.A.P.'s that your neighborhood has voted into being enacted.  There is one NAP called Sharing is Caring that allows other Sims to take your items or other's items.🤨  However, since you've only had a problem with books being taken so far, I think the Klepto trait that @SheriGR mentioned is more likely.  I just wanted to add this possibility with the Eco Lifestyle pack. 😉

Hey. I also play on PS4. Many of my books went MIA after Eco Lifestyle, but I found them in my household inventory. Maybe check to see if that’s where your books went?

Oh. I’m sorry, but I don’t think I read your post correctly. Like Sheri said, you can usually play as a sim that stole something from you and have them return it! I’m still searching for a painting that went missing a long time ago, but it should be easy for you to get your stuff back since you know who took the books. If they don’t live in a house, you can invite them to join your household and then kick them out or murder them after you’ve retrieved your items. 😂

@SheriGRI've been trying to get to know the sim in question and 2 out of 3 of the traits are revealed so I'm thinking the last trait to reveal is the klepto trait... but I will try and find where that sim lives and do what you have suggested.

@PugLove888 @Rae_Regenbogen I don't have the Eco expansion pack as I've seen loads of complaints about it not working currently, it's the last big expansion I haven't got so I'm gonna wait for more updates before buying the pack in all honesty as I've noticed some bugs on the PS4 since the updates have come on for the eco pack... I wish that with the 'Detective' career you could report someone for stealing and actually have them investigated like in real life. Would be interesting and a good update I think!

@NLSutton92, thanks for updating us on your situation! 😇  Yes, it can't hurt to wait for some of the bugs in Eco Lifestyle to get fixed.  I just wanted to make sure that if you had the pack that we weren't overlooking the possibility of a N.A.P. being enacted that could describe your problem! 😉  Since you don't have this pack, then it is probably like @SheriGR said , and your Sims's friend has the Klepto trait.

@PugLove888 I decided to find her on the household search. And then go into create a sim to see what traits she has as the 'Get to Know' wasn't coming up at all when both of my sims know two traits already.

She is Lazy, Gloomy and a Vegan. No klepto trait in sight... so I decided to move her into the house next door, checked her inventory and low and behold the books are in her inventory! I don't get how she was able to take those books without the klepto trait? Her aspirations was also to become a Renaissance sim... so that confuses me even more... she literally put the books in her pocket after reading them and didn't return them to the shelf... I've not had this happen before so I'm wondering if it's a new bug from the Eco update?

@NLSutton92, I've had that happen before, but not in a while. 🤔  It could be a bug from the update, but it could also just be a random glitch! 🤨  Keep an eye out if it happens again in your game, as that would make it more likely for it to be a bug, especially if it happens in another Save Game file! 😉  (I checked the Bug Report list and I couldn't' find this on there. ) 

Edit to add :  You don't happen to use Mods or CC do you?🤔

@PugLove888 I don't think you can get mods on PS4 can you? I don't use cheats very often (only once in a blue moon I use motherlode but then I turn cheats off)

I've seen this happen (On PS4) when I only have the small book (Table top style) bookshelves. My played sims won't put books back away into those bookshelves and instead put the books in their inventory. I don't see this happen with the regular bookshelves.
