Cannot access spellcaster quest “ask how to do magic”

Issues accessing spellcaster quest on magic realm expansion pack. Bought the pack through steam, everything working fine, CAS, practicing magic etc up until I went to the realm of magic portal and tried talking to the sages. I tried talking to them as acquaintances, friends and good friends still never received the ask how to do magic option that starts the quest. I have no mods on, only other expansion pack is vampire pack and the sim I am trying to use is not a vampire or other type of occult. 
I tried starting a new game to see if it was just the one character however didn’t get the option with the other new character even after becoming friends and talking to all three sages. 

Have restarted the game.

    Additionally I have uninstalled and reinstalled base game and packs now, still not working.

    @lizzy110702 

    Did you go through all the social options to find the option to Ask about Magic?  It doesn't always come on when you first talk to them, and you have to go through the social menus sometimes to find it.  If your sim is not a spellcaster, it has always been there.  I forget atm exactly where it is but I think you should have a Magic social menu, or it is under one of the Friendly menus.
