Cannot create small business (residential)

Hi, I want to have my sim live on the same lot as their cafe and the game won't seem to let me. I've tried starting from both a residential and small business lot, no dice. The game says the lot isn'...

Hi amaracles​ 

there is a bug but I'm not sure that's what's going on for you so can you confirm that's how you tried to create a small business

  • Create a residential rental lot
  • Move your Sims in
  • Register a business
  • Place a ticket machine
  • The lot type should then small business residential and open your business

OR

  • Create a residential rental lot
  • Move your Sims in
  • Go to the map and either buy for example one of the bars or one of the small business lots for your household
  • Travel to that lot
  • Open the business.
