@SheriGR My sim has level 4 in gardening. She can research plants, but somehow some plants cannot be researched. I know you cannot do it when you just planted them and they are a pile of dirt, but the plants I am trying are in they full form. As you can see in the screenshot, there is one plant I can research and the other one I cannot. They are both in the same stage of growth.
I was having the same issue until I noticed that you can only research the plants that are basically not hibernating they have to be in the same season you're in if you're in spring and you're trying to research a summer plant etc it won't let you it has to be of the same season
