Cannot Select Sims and Frozen Interactions

I am having the same issue with or without my mods installed, my sims are not responding to any queued interactions, and I cannot switch between players unless I hit the pause button. Also, the game is only allowing me to play in 1x time speed or 3x speed. I cannot select 2x speed and the clock keeps ticking.

I have already forgone some mods due to this new Lovestruck update, and now the game isn't working. I've also tried everything! Created a backup of my save in case this issue persists, I have not been able to play the game for up to 20 minutes since the new patch update and the quick fixes have done nothing to help this situation, as new issues keep popping up after one is 'resolved'

I have been playing Sims since day Sims 1 and this is very disappointing, The Sims 4 seems to be riddled with problems and instead of trying to fix them to make the game better for PAYING customers new content keeps on being released adding to a mirage of already existing problems. Nostalgia is what has kept me playing this game for this long and I am tired of constantly logging into my game just for it to be riddled with bugs and glitches that have been an issue for over a couple of years now. I think long-time simmers deserve some form of compensation for putting up with this nonsense for this long!

Spoiler
ALSO why is it so hard to find the current Game version, why is it not visible on the EA app, why must I go into folders to find it on my desktop??? The folder was empty when I opened it so I have no way of knowing what version of the game I am currently playing EA.

  • Hi @AtilolaO

    Try the following

    • Close the game
    • Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    • Repair the game
    • Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry. Be aware that your claimed event rewards will also be gone for the time being but you will get them back with your other things.
    • Start a new save game
    • Check if you still have the error
    • Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

    Did it help ?

You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

You will need the following folders

    - Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)

    - Usersettings(.ini) (your event rewards)
    - Custom Music (if you added any)
    - Screenshots (if you've taken any)
    - Videos (if you've taken any)
    - ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
    - Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)

Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.

All other files are recreated and not needed.
