Have you tried to change relationship and "ask to just be friends" or do you really need to "break up"? Maybe they broke up autonomously and you didn't realize? Just punting hehe. I guess if the option should be there it should be there. Just thought I'd throw that up in case you hadn't considered it. I hope something works out!
