Would like to provide my personal solution to the problem which personally, at least, I think is a bit nicer. This worked for me by having another Sim I could switch control to, though, but I imagine that saving and reloading could also work.
- Use the "Invite Over Director & Co-Stars" interaction from your job tab at work.
- Wait until the necessary co-star arrives. I checked whether the Sim who arrived was a co-star through their profile and, confirming that, was fairly confident it was the person I needed.
- Switch control to a Sim at a different lot.
- Switch back.
Avoids cheats and CAS disrupting gameplay flow, and so my preferred solution. If the other one works for you, that's great too.
