I would like to add, that in doing this, the method provided by The Sims team does not include a mention of saving screenshots.
In fact the method explicitly says "You won't need this folder for the further steps." when in reality, if the player wishes to retain their screenshots, they must keep that folder.
Due to a lack of proper guidance within the complex processes to help EA determine bugs, and have them addressed players, including myself are losing all their screenshots.
I also would like to add, the bug still isn't fixed. Cats continuously get "stuck" and constantly reloading the game is the only temporary fix.
It is much easier just to not play with cats and dogs, even after having completely removed all mods and custom content from my game files.
One example, and extremely easy to test, is create a vampire, acquire "Always use bat form" and then try to "clean up" any dishes that are not right next to a sink. For example, have a glass of milk, place it on a table in a dinning room, with no sink nearby except maybe even on a different floor, and the vampire cannot clean up without turning off "Always use as bat"
This is a completely broken feature.
What is interesting is the vampire can still "clean up" while using mist form.
There are countless examples of completely broken features in the Sims 4 like this, and it is peculiar that somehow the Sims 4 team is unable or unwilling to address them. They have nothing to do with mods, or custom content, as a brand new game on any computer can replicate these broken features. Especially the one mentioned above, with a Vampire "always use bat" form selected, being unable to "clean up" dishes.
My cats & dogs don’t get stuck that often, but when they do (more likely with strays than household pets) I just right click on and reset the pet, not the sim (need testingcheats on). I’ve never had one stay stuck after that, but then I don’t usually have a lot of crowded/maxed lots and households in one save, so you may be right about hitting a max save file size for your computer.
To be clear, are you still getting this error after playing a while in a vanilla save, or is it only when in a modded one?

I have numerous bugs.
They are 100% related to the game, and not mods.
I included a very easy to test bug in my comment.
Play as a vampire, select "always use bat form" then place a dirty dish away from any sink or dishwasher. Have the Vampire "clean up" the dish, and they will not do it. They pick it up and then put it down.
You admit, that there is a regular bug with cats and dogs getting stuck.
Add that to the massive array of other bugs in the game, and it makes for a frustrating experience.
The thing is, the more packs you buy, the more lots you have, the more sims you create, the more townies the game creates, and everything else, the "more" in general there is, the game starts to really become unplayable.
I think that is why EA doesn't bother fixing bugs. They encourage buying packs, and starting new files, then just blame mods for the issues.
So again, to be clear. No mods. (Again you can try the very easy to replicate vampire "clean up" bug on a brand new fresh file with no mods, so you know its EA/bugs and not any thing else.)
Add to the above a large file, with a ton of packs, a lot of items, even without mods, it will start to become unplayable.
