I'm being told this is by design and is how TS4 has always worked. It might've worked differently in TS3 or TS2?
@boopidoop Hi there! I don't use CC or Mods, so I cannot answer if there are options there, but as for in the game, I'm not aware of any way to modify/switch up everyday outfits to more than one at a time, but I can make a few suggestions of ways I have used to switch things up in:
• The hair you choose for everyday should by default become your hair for all other outfits.
• You can go through and change the hair on each outfit. This will add variety. It will also make you have some automatic everyday hair changes per season if you have seasons (There is a specific hot weather and cold weather everyday outfit for those seasons).
• When you are playing the household you can always click on the sim and change to whatever outfit you want. You can create your party, formal, etc. clothes like an everyday outfit and change to one of those. Unfortunately this will revert back to the everyday outfit after they shower, etc.
• In case you are not aware of any of these options, you can change outfits just by clicking on the sim when active and choosing 'choose outfit', you can also do this by clicking on a dresser or mirror (where you can also 'plan outfit' 'change sim'. 'Change sim' and 'plan outfit' will open the editor so you can change hair, edit outfits, etc.).

This isn't really an issue of switching outfits, but the help is appreciated! btw, you can add additional outfits by clicking the arrow above the outfit category, like the sun icon for everyday outfits, and you can make up to 5 additional outfits for each one
@boopidoop Nice... I never noticed that. I just tested that for myself and when I made a 2nd everyday outfit, for instance, then I can click on the sim and the outfit (and hair) that I made for #2 everyday is also available to change into. So... you are looking to have the sim automatically be in outfit #2 (even if all that is different is the hair) every other day - and you don't want to have to go in and change/select it yourself?
@boopidoop, @crinrict, & @SheriGR , I'm not sure (since I don't work for EA) but I think that the reason that you can't change hair color per outfit is that it is tied to genetics. 🤓 This would make sense since you cannot change eye color per outfit either! 😉 If your Sim had a hair color for every outfit, then which would it pick to give any of your children? 🤨 🤔 But I find it frustrating when I want a special look for the Party category, where in my mind a person might just paint their hair or use a temporary colored rinse in real life. ☹️ The best we can do is to choose one of they haristyles that have a color option like the ones below:
Other than that, you would have to look for a Mod that would allow you to change haricolor per category. I don't use Mods, so I don't' know if there is one that allows you to do this, but It would surprise me if there wasn't a Mod like this out there! 😎
BTW, I have been addicted to the multiple outfits for each category for a while. 😳😃 Before Seasons, I got so tired of looking at the same Everyday Outfit and Sleep Outfit on my Sims, so I started making several in my most used categories. :eahigh_file: At least with Seasons there is some variation when I don't do this, or when I play a Sim that I downloaded from the Gallery that I didn't make. But I still love this feature since it allows me to add the raincoat and rainhat to outfits as an alternate! 🥳
