Dell New Inspiron 15 5000
Hi, I’m thinking of getting a new laptop to improve the running of Sims 4. I’ve done a bit of research but I was hoping to get the opinion of someone more technically minded than myself on whether t...
@FionaRhianne That laptop should handle all Sims 4 packs together on medium-high settings, or maybe high if you didn't install all of the EPs or didn't mind somewhat lower framerates. (People have different preferences.) It's a good laptop for what it does; it's just not a gaming machine.
Just so you know, you could do significantly better on the hardware for the same price. This Lenovo has a stronger processor and a graphics card that would handle all Sims 4 content on ultra settings, although only barely:
There are a number of upgrades available, including getting a much faster graphics card (£50) and doubling the RAM to 16 GB (somehow free).
If you'd like to see other options as well, let me know.
@puzzlezaddict Thanks so much for your reply, that’s super helpful!
I’m still sort of toying with the idea so if you do have any other recommendations then I’d also welcome those.
@FionaRhianne Without knowing how much you'd prefer to spend, these are the ones that are around the same price. The Lenovo is still the best deal overall though, at least if you upgrade to an Nvidia 1650.
If you'd rather keep it under £700, this Asus has an Nvidia 1050, the same default graphics card as the Lenovo I linked before. This one has the advantage of a much larger hard drive; its processor is equivalent to the one in the Lenovo.

If you like Dell as a brand, these laptops are £750 for an Nvidia 1050 and £800 for a 1650, with the same processor as is in the Lenovo and the same larger hard drive as the Asus and the Dell you're considering.
The other options I saw with a 1650 are all at least £750; the cheapest one is this Asus (same as the other Asus, except for the faster graphics card):

This Acer is £800 and has a 1 TB solid state drive, which is more storage than most people could use:

If none of these are what you want, let me know what features you'd like, and your preferred budget.
