@InfiniteVerve
Try putting it on a shortcut. If you don't already have one, create a shortcut on your desktop to:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_x64.exe"
(Or wherever your sims game is located)
Then add the disable parameter at the end. (10 is snowy escapes)
-disablepacks:EP10
So, it'd look like this in the Target box: (quotes and all)
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_x64.exe" -disablepacks:EP10

@InfiniteVerveSure it did. It's a "Command-line parameter", remember? Command-line parameters are to be used on... you know... "COMMAND-LINES"?
Look, never mind.
If you think I'm just pulling your chain, then forget it. Figure it out for yourself. - 5 years ago
@Psychotps Hi, I notice you saying the command line method still works but I’ve been trying it all day and it hasn’t been working. I only want Get to Work and Outdoor Retreat at the moment so have inputted: -disablepacks:EP02,EP03,EP04,EP05,EP06,EP07,EP08,EP09,EP10,GP02,GP03,GP04,GP05,GP06,GP07,GP08,GP09,SP01,SP02,SP03,SP04,SP05,SP06,SP07,SP08,SP09,SP10,SP11,SP12,SP13,SP14,SP15,SP16,SP17,SP18
I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled origin and repaired the game with no results. My game is fully updated and I own everything if that’s relevant. Thanks in advance if you have any advice - InfiniteVerve5 years agoSeasoned Ace@cherriesandwine1 The command line method works if you are online (Open Origin, go to My Game Library. Right click on The Sims 4 & select Game Properties. Select Advanced launch options. And then enter the text "-disablepacks:EP02", without the quotes, for example, or the string that you wrote) in the box below in Command line arguments. That's where it works. I am guessing you have no issues with going online, and not worried about updates?
I wish the devs would have kept the Sims3 pack prompt thing and implemented it in Sims4. Anytime I fire up my TS3 I get the pop-up asking which packs I want to use, and then just select (or deselect) the ones I want (or don't want). That was a smart feature. - 5 years ago
Yeah I’ve tried all that and it’s still not working unfortunately
- InfiniteVerve5 years agoSeasoned Ace@cherriesandwine1 you tried through the Origin app, or through the method that Psychotps was saying worked?
Through Origin. I used the exact command line code and it isn’t working. Very strange. Didn’t mean to hijack your thread, just thought it was a similar issue - apologies

@cherriesandwine1No worries at all. I thought you did the thing that Psychotps said (adding a desktop shortcut with the added bit at the end), and it didn't work.
Did your game still load up the packs? Or did it show them as downloading? When you disable packs through the command line (Origin) and then start up your game, it will show the packs 'downloading'- but they aren't actually.. it's some weird thing. The packs will still show in the main menu when you load the game but the packs wont be in game (or, shouldn't be). Did you disable (in Origin) and then open your game to check (starting a new save file to see)? *edited for clarity - 5 years ago
Yeah I opened the game and everything is still there as usual unfortunately. It’s annoying as it doesn’t seem to be affecting others so I assume it’s maybe an issue on my end

@cherriesandwine1just wanted to make sure (for clarity) if you started a new save file after disabling packs in Origin. When I used the disable packs command line in Origin (when I first found out about it) I thought it didn't work, but then once I made a new save file (and started playing) I saw the packs were disabled (just looked like they weren't). The mechanism and programming is not very user friendly. The game packs will show in the main menu when you open the game, but once you start a new game it should have those packs disabled.
- InfiniteVerve5 years agoSeasoned Ace@Psychotps does not work, but thanks for the suggestion.
