Expansion pack bed quality

Just a suggestion, for paid items in expansion packs and kits etc the beds and other appliances should be higher quality. It's kind of frustrating that I spent a fair amount on the ranch expansion pack and the cute beds for it are only 4 energy.

  • @ValkyrieQueen86 I know! It's really frustrating me you're absolutely right.

It baffles me that Growing Together and especially Horse Ranch have lovely new beds with such poor comfort that also need longer sleeping times. 2 groups of people who need a great night's sleep are most certainly parents and farmers/ranchers who have to be up first thing and need all their energy to care for children/livestock.

Those Horse Ranch beds are so cute but my Sim and her little sister got up that first morning both with uncomfortable moodlets for the first few hours of the day and worse still, they needed longer in bed. The little one was crying in the shower and her sister tried a Muscle Relaxing Soak to help the discomfort but that made no difference. They both could have used an Aspirin Reward Solver if such a thing existed, the Moodlet Solver was too expensive so they just suffered till it wore off.

You probably know already you can upgrade them if your Sim has high Handiness Skill but here's the instructions incase you haven't tried it.

  • @ValkyrieQueen86  I totally agree with you. I really dislike my sims being sore when they have work to do. I can right click the mood off with U.I. cheats but I know there are people who are on different platforms and can't use mods at all.

I do update the beds and still the problem happens. It's ridiculous how this happens at all when the beds are updated. I hear LittleMsSam has a mod for more expensive mattresses but I haven't used it. I don't like putting a bunch of mods in incase it causes another problem like there aren't enough of those in the game. LOL

@simsplayer818  the link makes it sound like upgrading the bed will be excellent and solve all the problems but I guess another bug cause the upgrade often doesn't work at all. I know for a fact from upgrading. I generally upgrade appliances, beds, plumbing and electronics in all my games.

I've started just putting some of them in my guest rooms so I still have them, but then using a more comfortable bed for my played Sims.

I really like the Horse Ranch one with the ponyskin print (I love an animal print) but my poor Sim...I think she'd have thrown her pillows at me if she could lol, as she limped out of bed. She looked like me with my bad back lol, she was fit and healthy when she got into that bed!

  • @simsplayer818 I haven't tried it myself but cant you use the copy pattern tool and apply the print for the bed you like onto a higher quality bed? I don't tweak things in that kind of detail but it seems like you could.

@3b28ef78a4e0f324 I'm on console so that's not possible. I could do that on Sims 3 on console but not Sims 4. Possibly can be done on PC with mods perhaps but I can't say for sure.

Yeah, I think that’s Sims 3. There is a better mattresses mod where you can pay money (“buy a mattress”) for the bed to be better quality for a limited time (until the “mattress” is “worn out”) but I think it would be a reasonable and fun base game addition to at least allow you to hire a repair man and request specific upgrades. So you could get good quality stuff by either having handiness skill or just saving enough money to pay for that quality. It would give us another goal to save up for and not require every single sim to be handy, allowing more variety in personality.

Because I agree, there aren’t enough good quality beds.

@PipMenace That is a great idea! I get my sims up to lvl 8 so they can do the beds but having a skilled handy man that can do it would be a nice addition. My sims usually have lvl 10 handiness by the time I'm finished updating everything, work bench and all. I usually get the first skill from the TV next update plumbing and so forth and it takes a lot of time. My poor sims have no social life while this is going on..

Then finally you can update the beds!  A few days after my sim updates her or his bed (depending on household) they wake up with a sore back. Not everyday but it still happens. Seems like a update that is not a cure to the problem and after all the work to get there so disappointing!

Thank goodness for the Seldom Sleepy Reward Trait! I usually get them that as soon as I can. It doesn't help with the discomfort though.

I have furniture stores though so I might add some upgraded beds in those 🤔. That way it's only on one handy Sim to do the work instead of handy Sims in every household that has an uncomfortable bed.
