Hi there @rerecasseroll it's not actually an EA issue it's a sector wide manufacturer issue. It would require rival companies to collaborate and create together. Historically competing console manufacturers have been reluctant to do this in most circumstances. Content purchased on one platform is designed and formatted for that platform and is simply not compatible with a competitors platform or a different type of platform altogether.
It's not just limited to Sims either, or even EA products. I have games on Xbox purchased from the Microsoft Store that I'd like to play on my Nintendo but would have to purchase them again. I once had a friend buy an Xbox for their child without realising all their content was on PlayStation. I mean, with Nintendo games it's even worse because their consoles aren't even compatible. So I can't play DS games on my Switch. At least Sims games can be transferred across current Xbox models or from PS4 to PS5.
It's something that would require a big rethink and a lot of cooperation between competitors but its sector wide and it's a massively competitive and lucrative market.
