Father Winter in world - can't move him out

The gift issue is a known issue.

Does he appear in the split/merge screen ?  If so, you can try moving him into a new household. That should evict him from the current (you can also just move him in with someone and then split from there.

If Father Winter is moved into a house it may prevent "ask for present" but you say that is not the case for you.  You can only ask for present at Winterfest when he visit your sims from 8 PM to midnight. If you meet him at other times the option is not there.

crinrict  Thank you for your help!  Yes, I saw that I could move Father Winter into another household.  I wanted him to "not be in the world" .  The irony I have concerns with is this:    no residences anywhere have Father Winter living in them, but the game - see picture shows that he resides in the world.   Why???   I did not put him there!  

I selected to only see those I do not play and those in the world to see if Father Winter was indeed in the world, thus preventing the ability for anyone to "ask for presents".  I was told it  is why "ask for presents" does not show up. That Father Winter cannot live in world and still allow others to "ask for presents".   My search shows, Father Winter is living in San MyShuno, but he is quite literally not in any residence anywhere in my game!!!!  I visited every location looking for him.  

So the issue with the not getting gifts - is this the reason?  Father Winter is living in the world but really isnt?  

I will Move Father winter, I will test to see if the option to ask for gifts is available.  If Father Winter moves back into a home on his own again, I will eventually find out, right?   

well, it didn't work. Option to move into another household.  I did notice that this time when I went into the game a bit ago, that the Households with Default Configerations, which all but 2 of the boxes had been selected by the game, (i didn't do it or undo it), but the Neighborhoos stories still existed.   I'm in the game now...... LOL .... BRB

disabling neighborhood stories allowed me to merge him into a "played" family.  Then I was able to "split and move" from household into his own household, move him into "unplayed " families and now... He is nowhere to be found!  He doesn't show anywhere in "manage households"  .  So I think Father is where he belongs... flying in the clouds!  Thank you again for your help, somehow I just knew I was missing something that this was not actually a bug!   I will click solved!   Thank you again!!  

rujuta4me When I've started a new game, Father Winter is usually there in Manage Households under the Other tab.  If you look at him while he shows in MH, you'll find that his name is Clement Frost.  But as you play, he will disappear on his own from the Other tab and be relocated to Hidden sims which players can't see without using a mod.  I'm not sure exactly when that happens but my guess is that it happens the first time you have Winterfest.  If you move him into a household and make him playable, he will lose his Father Winter role and the game will create a new one that may or may not look exactly the same, usually with a different name the next time Winterfest rolls around.  The new one will always be in Hidden sims.  I'm not sure why he shows as being in San Myshuno for you though.

CGrant56   Yes, I am aware of Clement Frost, LOL   I am also aware that many cannot "ask for present", which is an known issue, but I am trying to fix the issue with my game.  I don't have every EP.  I have had this issue with not being able to ask for presents.   In mine, Clement Frost was no where to be found, but Father Winter, in my screen shot above shows he lives in San MyShuno.  But not anymore. 

Crinrict is correct, Non playable NPC's should not have any Household configurations!   I am still learning the programming for all the packs I don't have.  All the issues I have from HSY, HR, FR, LS,  L&D are all from base game changes as I don't have any of those packs but am affected by all the changes!   Some reported some not. 

I will never just say something is a bug!  So, I always ask general questions geared toward an outcome I am seeking.  In this case - to Move Father Winter, aka Clement Frost out of the world as a non playable NPC which he is supposed to be!!!!   On that note, while I am thankful for your input as I am fully aware that you do not know the depth of knowlege I have with Sim's but I don't expect anyone to know!  Now, I am "testing" while playing my game,  to see if anyone can "ask for presents", if this solves my problem, I certainly do hope so!  I already up voted on the "ask for presents" known issue but if this fixes the issue for me, then I will let someone know. Makes me wonder now, as I haven't looked yet, if this is the same issue I have with Grim! I'll look but I try to tackle one problem at a time.

rujuta4me Yeah, it is pretty hard to tell what anyone's knowledge level and experience level are and what packs they have, so I when I don't know, then I assume they are new to the game and base my responses accordingly which ends up being TMI in many cases.   And you're right that FW should show as in one of the worlds.  But my point was, that it should correct itself at some point and he will get moved from Other to Hidden by the game which has been my experience.   But he can also be moved into a lot and then moved out which will clear the issue you have without affecting his role as long as you don't make him playable in the process (don't enter the lot).  So, place him and then evict him immediately works.  You can edit him in CAS as well.  And you can even save him to your Library and move your edited version of him to a new save if you want to.  I've done all those things.  But once he gets hidden, you can't do any of those things anymore.  The only time you can do that is when he shows up in Other in a new save. 
There is still an issue with ask for presents for toddlers.  I'm unaware of it being an issue for older sims though, nor of any work arounds.  It was limited to the toddlers in my game.  It's been around for quite a while.  There are a number of posts here about it, but I couldn't find a master thread on it to give you a link, but a search will bring up most of them.  Some are rather old though.  If you really want to fix it in the meantime until a permanent fix is made and are willing to use mods, Bienchen does have a little fix mod for it that I use.

CGrant56I do appreciate your thought process!  😀 I am the same way when trying to help someone so when I ask for idea's, it's just that.  While I thank you for the offer for a MOD, I don't use CC or MOD.   I did until about 5 years ago.  I did get FW moved.  Disabled all household configurations, moved from "fake household" to played household just to be able to "split him from the household" into a household that I could make unplayable.  Well, it worked.  My sims were able to ask for presents again.  at least my adults can.  Have a weird looking FW now. I will be testing it with my children and toddlers who are in other families.  The family I used to do this is a new family I created the day the Blast of the past event began.  It was wild to watch the new FW gain weight before my eyes!  He showed up skinny..... left - chunky!!!!  I took screen shots.  

Anyway, thank you for you feedback and input.  It is very much welcome and appreciated. 

jpkarlsenThank you for your thoughts.  I will admit it is what sent me to search the manage worlds to see if Father Winter, used to be Clement Frost but now is some other elder.  He had household configurations, which I did not know that he ...was not supposed to have..... that prevented me from doing anything with him and he showed as being in a residence per manage households.  but when looking in that San MyShuno, where game said he lived, he was not "physically" in any residence In any locations.  I even looked in Strangerville for him..... every pack location... not there but game -"manage households" said he was.  I thought that if Idisable the houselhold configurations that that would fix the problem.  So I exited and restarted the game. It did not "fix itself".  Bottom line : Clement Frost is gone!  Have a new FW, so far my adults can "ask for present" and  I will be testing children and toddlers soon, and I have really mastered the "repair my game" and such on the EA app, if you can call that a good thing!  🤣
