Gallery

Is there any way to stop people seeing your gallery ? Before you tell me to just save to my comp, I save to the gallery so I don't lose renos and sims. My comp breaks a lot. My problem is that if someone places a box, they whine if you reno it and save it to the gallery. Also I had a person attacking me on the gallery Some woman calls her sims basegame, and they're full of CC. I explained that if they're full of CC they're not basegame. Then she started stalking my gallery and leaving hateful comments. I just want to reno things, learn how to use the sims tools and not deal with this crap, but if I don't save to gallery, I usually lose my stuff.. Is there Any way Not to have people see your gallery and Not follow you ? I have like 100 'followers' on my gallery, and IDK why ! I just want to be left alone !

@CloeGreen I'm so sorry for your frustration and being poorly treated by some simmers! And I'm sorry that you're having issues with your computer crashing and losing all your stuff. That is so very frustration... I had a computer before that was doing that. Ugg!! 😞

If you don't want to or have no access to cloud storage (as @PipMenace  recommended, which is an excellent option), and if you don't have an external drive that you backup to for certain files or for your computer, you can actually just use a thumb drive, or some place free like Google drive. All you need to do is go to the location that your game/computer is saving your game (for most people that's Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4)... ( Your game saves your Library into the "Tray" folder, which is inside that "The Sims 4" folder.)

...And you can make a copy of the "Tray" folder inside that "The Sims 4" folder, and paste that folder copy ["Tray"] onto your flash drive or upload it to a free Google Drive account. My game Library is currently full of a bunch more stuff than I normally have in it, so my "Tray" folder is pretty huge, and it's only about 3MB. If you don't have that much room on your flash drive you can reduce the number of things saved in your game Library.

This will give you a way to save a copy of your library outside your computer, which will preserve your hard work and favorite items saved into your Library. You can also backup your "saves" file in that "The Sims 4" folder if you want to save a copy of your game saves outside your computer for safekeeping. There is a list of what each file contains at this link: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/user-files-explained/

Well, when I say I'm better at decorating, I mean I'm really bad at building. My renos were never better than the originals, I just changed them for my game play. Some builds are so pretty that I can't believe how talented some people are, but they're so complicated that they bug on me. Also, sometimes I have to take things out, because my sims will die if I don't. I love the sims, but lets face it, if there's a way to die, a sim will find it. What I mean by lonely btw, is no one in my family, and none of my friends plays the sims. So when something happens, I have no one to ask or tell about it. I added the builds that I had left in my library, back to the gallery, just to save them. I can't see any trouble with them, so I hope it's okay. I do miss many of the renos that had other people's names on them as the original creators, because most were very large renos or I spent a lot of time on them. But, I deleted them, and I will try to start over with the suggestions you all gave me. Thank you all for being such lovely people ! Happy Gaming !

Ugg, I'm so sorry. I commented to everyone without naming anyone. I'm not used to forums, sometimes because they are not fun, but also because I can't seem to use them correctly. Ty all !

@CloeGreen Happy to help in any small way. Thank you for letting us know that you were able to glean helpful info from our posts to address your needs for backing up your creations and favorite game elements! Happy simming! 🙌

  • Hi @CloeGreen

I think the gallery is only used when you want to share your content to other players, you can still save your builds but you just don't upload them to your gallery, save them to your library. Good on you for removing your followers who were being unnecessarily rude, if you stop your builds to the gallery you should be fine. There is a separate button to save your builds privately to your library, I've attached a screen shot to show which button keeps your build private!

Hope this is helpful for you!

Just so there is no misunderstanding; You will notice, if you read back, that I understand about places to save, and why those options were not for me. Thank you for the help

@CloeGreen I have had to delete my game and all of it from C drive, from documents and even the EA  App  from my computer a few times cause of game glitches. All the builds, rooms, tips and paintings I have made stay on the gallery they don't disappear. It does keep all build you uploaded  However it's not a safe place from people who check out your gallery and might be critical of what you have saved under your name. As for library if you move your trayfile and mods from documents to desk top before deleting the game your library and mods are saved and can be re-added to the game when ready.

I know you can make money on YouTube and Twitch showing game play, builds, and CAS but not to sure about making money from others builds? Would someone be showing a build in their game play on line because usually a mention of the original creators name is enough and a nice advertisement of their skills.

You tube has a ton of building videos that are excellent for advanced building tips and tricks. There are many catalogs on line of house builds you might find helpful. Just type in the type of build you are looking for an you will see tons.

I'm sorry you feel you are being ganged up on but I have to say put yourself in the shoes of the creator and think of all the work they put into a build, getting it just right as far as they're concerned just to see it up on someone else's page. Kind of heart breaking for them. It's just horrible to find someone did this to you. The person doing this only sees the build not the person behind the creation or all the work it took, only the final product that took a second for them to see not build.

Not saying you are doing this and not giving credit only explaining reasons creators get upset. Like I said in my previous post to you I read their description and if it says please don't re-upload in any form, I stay away from it. There are a lot of shell challenges that are just begging for people to work on and upload. It's fun to play them and no one will give you a hard time.

This may have more information than you need, it said you replied and took me back a page to what I though was your last comment.

No one had any legit gripe against me, it was ego and spite. Some people are just mean. I know nice people don't want to believe that others are petty. I can't tell people how to feel, I can only speak about what I experienced. I've done Reno's, where I've changed almost every part of the decor, inside and out, with only the shell being the same, and I've still had complaints from some of those, just because someones name was attached to it. It's especially fun when the original builder says they don't care, 'it's fine', yet some rando trolls you about it ! As the saying goes,' The ego has a double life'. Frankly I believe there should be a TOS from EA, that states, 'Anything you post to the gallery is the property of EA. (Facts BTW) If you do not want it used, please don't load it to the gallery !' Other opinions will vary, of course. Also, I think I tried to explain in a previous post, that my OS gets wiped sometimes, when my comp tanks. No library will be left after that. Last year alone, I had to reformat over 6 times. That seems to be the MS go to for any problems their OS has. I think I've worked it out now. I've taken an obscure bit of CC and added it to some saves of Reno's, that someone else is the original builder of. It wont show on my gallery that way. I'm a nobody, so no one is looking for CC from me. I'm not fond of CC, but it seems to be a solution. We'll see. I'm sorry I don't answer with @, but either I don't understand how that works, or it's just not working. Apologies ! Thank you again.
