Game Is Loading....

When I load my current game I pretty much cannot do anything; the build/buy modes are grayed out, I can't save my game, I can't travel anywhere. Anytime I try to do any of these things, it just says "game is loading." Has anyone else experienced this? I tried repairing the game, it repaired all packs except for the new nature one because of the bug where it says you don't own it....I do not play with mods or anything like that.

If your main save is still affected, please test a new save, for comparison's sake.

Does everyone have a mods folder even when not using mods? I have never used mods in sims; if I would still have it can you give instructions to locate it?

    Thanks!!

In addition, I did make a new game and the issues don't happen in the fresh game.

I have like 4 mods and my hat section won't show up, everyone says it's a mod issue and it's not. my main save won't load, started a new one and it loads fine. my old save isn't even complex. kinda over everyone saying it's mods when we either don't play with any, or we have very few and update them regularly. it's a bug that no one wants to admit for some reason.

  • amberlynraye95  If you don't have any mods, that part isn't relevant.  Since the new save is fine, please try loading a different household within your main save and see whether you can save, travel, etc.

moofison  The hat issue has been mods for every other player I've seen report back.  Even if you don't think it's mods for you, please confirm that by removing your mods.

No one is saying every problem is mods.  What we're saying is please remove your Mods folder to find out whether the problem is mods or not.  If it is mods, and we don't check, we could waste a lot of time trying to fix the issue another way.  If it's not mods, we can move on to other potential causes.  Think of removing the Mods folder as a diagnostic test, not a cure.

I'm saying I ALREADY HAVE AND DO FOR EVERY UPDATE! Like what I'm saying is everyone says that and I have done that 36393863629 times. At a certain point the game is literally just not working and I don't think it's something we can do. Like I can't even play save files after updates anymore I just have to start over. I take out my mods, I play with 5 max so it's not hard to find out if that's the issue.

  • moofison  Your last post didn't specify that you'd tested without your mods.  You said the problem wasn't your mods, but lots of players say that when they haven't tested without mods.  In fact, I would guess that most players who say the mods aren't the issue, but don't specifically say that they tested without mods, have not in fact tested without mods; they've simply updated their mods or run a conflict detector or done some other checking that isn't completely reliable.

At any rate, do you want to try to salvage your main save?  If so, try again to load it, and see whether you get a lastexception in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  I only want a new LE, as in, with a timestamp from this attempt to load the save, and with your mods and any custom content still removed.

You can attach the lastexception to a reply here if you open the file and delete its first line.
