Gap between basement and 1st floor
When building a basement I get a gap between the fist floor and the basement. I want to have the foundation but I get the gap and it won’t let me place stairs either
I tested this today in my vanilla test game with no mods or cc. And at various times during my testing, I got all the things you have mentioned getting depending on the order in which I did things..
What it seems to be is the open stairwell and the foundation. When the floor gets deleted in the stairwell in your configuration, everything seems to go wonky because the game no longer sees that as a room. The outside walls and the fences act like separate walls and not like a room. The ceiling disappeared too and the only way to get it back was build a room above to close the hole.
But I was able to successfully get your configuration to work but not on a raised foundation. Building it with no foundation or the walls flat on the ground, everything was fine. But as soon as I raised the foundation even by 1 click, the stairs disappeared and when I tried to place them again, I got the "Incompatible with Terrain Constraint Block" error message. The foundation also appeared around the opening so it looked awful.
I got the grass around the edge that I see in your pics too but only when I started on a raised foundation. When I deleted the floor the 1st time, I got sloping grass inside the opening but deleting the basement ceiling made that go away except under the exterior walls just as you show. Starting flat, creating the opening and then raising the foundation, it didn't happen and what I saw was the foundation texture along the exterior walls and around the opening.
Then I rebuilt it again, just a little bigger with the hole in the middle of the floor and with the opening at least 1 tile away from the exterior walls on all sides. Doing that, the games sees the open space as a separate room inside a room and the ceiling doesn't disappear when you delete the floor in the stairwell. But otherwise, it did the same thing as your configuration. If you build it flat, it works fine but if you try to raise the foundation, the stairs disappear and when you try to place them, you get the "Incompatible with Terrain Constraint Block" error and can't place the stairs.
MOO makes no difference. The stairs won't place with it on or off.
So, the only thing I can tell you is that there appears to be something going on with foundations, stairs, fences and open stairwells.
In the end, for your build, the only suggestions I can offer are either to not have an open stairwell on a raised foundation or to build the ground floor flat on the ground with no raised foundation.
I'm sorry that I can't find a way to do what you are trying to do but it appears that it is one of the limits of the game's build system atm.
Hope this helps.
