Half-Baked Cake On The Floor

My sim got half way done baking a cake and then quit.  I asked her to bake another cake - same thing.  A while later, I looked in the family inventory and there was "a baking pan" in the inventory.  I thought maybe it was a career reward that I missed?  So I put it on the floor.  I selected it and one of the options was to resume baking the cake, so I picked it.  The cake in the pan turned brown, then my sim quit baking it.  Now when I ask her to resume baking the cake, she tells me she cannot reach the cake, even though there should be nothing blocking her. I cannot select the half-baked cake in build/buy mode.   It's just sitting there on the floor.  How do I remove it?

I have found that it works better if you use the room tool. Create a small room around the object. Click inside the room and select Remove Floor. The floor and anything on it will be removed. To repair missing floor select one wall and drag it to the opposite wall. There will now be one remaining wall that you can delete.

I tried that. It won’t delete via the  sledgehammer.  It will delete if I delete the entire room, but I would rather not do that if I could help it.

You could try a trick I use called "drop a room on it".
Select one of the free room shapes from build mode.
Set it on the lot outside your house and make it small enough to not destroy your room.
Place this small room over your cake or any item you cannot otherwise delete.
The item will be removed to household inventory.
You may have to leave it there but it will be gone from your lot.
You can now replace any floor tiles that may have been deleted in this process.

Please let us know if this works for you.
