Will add my disapointment here. Rent sometimes comes in but is way less than it should be. owning rentals is unprofitable because of this. Unit rating tanks because of incompletable maintenance events.

Hello, I am adding my name to the pile. July 14,2025. For Rent content is still bugged. No mods, no CC. Game online and updated. PC Version.
Lease resets to 7 days on game launch. Sporadic rent collection. Management events don't complete.

Good to know. I ended up getting cottage living during the sale, but I'm mainly working on CC right now. It will be a while before I do much with it. But I mainly want it for the lots, build mode items, etc. The farming game play won't be too important to me. So, I will probably be able to avoid most of it's bugs. I just now have a weird old lady walking around beating people with her purse. Odd but also kind of funny. So, I think I can work with it. I have already figured out how to adjust the filters for for Zero's No Townie Mod to work with it. There were some errors until I disabled a few of the filters. Now it's good.
I just need to edit the mayor and two old ladies the game generates. I might turn them into adults and make them more attractive. Then some of my flirty sims might earn getting hit. I have already done some initial tests, and you can do significant alterations without disabling their established roles. Just don't make them younger than adult. Some roles require that age or older. And making them a played or active household can mess things up too. But I can just click on them and edit them with MCCC when I see them.

I have cottage living but I currently have a bug with disappearing chickens from the coop so just to make you aware of that as a potential bug
id love to buy more packs but I refuse to buy something so broken it will potentially break 10 years of gameplay I always backup my saves but at this point I don’t think the sims 4 is stable enough to have years of content
they need to stop churning out pack after pack and concentrate on making the game stable and mainly bug free

There is a good sale going, so I grabbed a couple of kits and a stuff pack. But like you, I'm a little leery of the larger expansions. Especially the newest ones. I got realm of magic lately when it was on sale mainly for the extra lots and the CAS and build mode items. Much less so for the potentially buggy game play. I was considering For Rent, Cottage Living, and Eco Living, but now I'm not so sure about that given how buggy the game is. But as others have said, if you decide to take a chance on them, don't pay full price. I've bought most of the expansions I have at either 30% or 50% off.

I didn’t realise it was this broken I stand by what I have said I will not be buying any of these packs till they are fixed but I feel alone in this as I’ve seen people still buying them oh well 🤷♀️

no it is not fixed. the bugs i currently expirience as of December 9th 2024 are:
I cannot collect rent. have never seen a penny in my life over multiple saves. i make a new save with this pack every few months bc it makes me actually interested to play and this always kills it immediately
if that doesnt kill it, my residents are permanent. the contracts auto renew at the start of the week every week. now this is new actually, originally in my first playthrough i thought this was a bug until i was patient and it reset to where it should correctly be, but this playthrough no it just renews the contract and counts down again and i can only unjustly evict my tenants.
i also cannot complete the landlord events as when something like a fridge breaks, and im given the option to repair or replace, if i replace it i auto fail the mission :)
not the only pack i could make a list of like this sadly, extremely disappointing to hear they think they can fix a fundamentally broken game and expect customers to buy broken packs forever instead of making a new game.

To get an overview of the state of the pack you might have a look at this AHQ post, which shows a compilation of all open issues reported in connection with the For Rent EP:
I guess the sections which refer to the owner tennant gameplay are of greater interest:
- Bills/Money/Royalty
- Property Manager
- Rental Event
- Residential Rental
Those sections contain some of the EP's widely known and stll open issues.
Note that these issues refer in general to an unmodded game. If you use mods, there might be more/different issues.
My personal opinion: Tomarang is a nice world, the BB stuff is good. CAS items are not as colourful as expected. The night market is a disapointment: pretty orphaned, only 4 stalls are functional, the rest is set dressing. The tiger sanctuary, the fish market and the temple are rabbit holes. I never touched the For Rent gameplay due to all the associated problems. I bought a code at a key reseller with a reasonable discount (50% off), but I wouldn't recommend it for the full EA price.
