How do I create this skylight?

I've been following this speed build (on 0.25!) and I've reached the part where you lay a fence enclosure down over the roof, and then delete the floor within the roof.

It looks like the guy toggles the camera so he can remove the view of the roof but still see the ceiling the roof is placed on. He can then delete the floor, which creates the skylight.

I've removed the roof to see if this even works, and you can delete the floor the fence has enclosed. I just can't seem to do it with the roof in tact. 

What is the hot key or whatever this guy uses to go one below the roof? I don't get it. I use a Mac.

    @safftropical Well, on PC's it's the END key. Home and End bring walls up and down. He likely just build the roof, hit End to bring the walls down, and deleted the floor.

    Unless it was a different floor, then it would be PgUp/PgDn. You kinda have to figure it out.

    @safftropical Yeah I had the issue too, but @Psychotps is right.
    Walls is what you use. At first I tried using fences because I thought it would be easier to see what I am doing, but nothing worked. When walls were used instead, then deletion of the floor then walls, I finally had the open space to put in the sky light.
