@PugLove888I'm sure that's part of it. Clothing alignment and Animation alignment depends on the height of the characters. CBBE in Skyrim and Fallout solved the clothing problem with Bodyslide. It adjusts the clothing to fit the body.
Animations aren't so easy. They completely depend on the character's body parts being in a specific location. Like a kiss animation wouldn't look right if their lips are at different heights.
Think about it. What if the two characters are only 1 inch different in height? The taller sim would have to have the animation adjusted so they slightly bend over. What if they are 5 or 6 inches different? The animation would need to have them bend over even further, which means a different animation.
So, a different animation for every possible difference in height? You'd need an exponential increase in the number of animations.
So, how to solve that? Dynamically adjusted animations? Is that even possible?
Seems like a LOT of work to fix when all you need to do is disable heights.
@Psychotps, That make sense! 🤨 And sometimes a seemingly "easy" solution turns out to be much more difficult to implement! 🤔
- Psychotps6 years agoSeasoned Ace@PugLove888 Lol. That's usually how it works. I'm darn good at figuring out how a problem works, but not so good at actually fixing them.
I've seen this a lot in other games. For example, there's a DAI mod that allows a female main character to romance Cassandra. Problem is, the animations are designed for a male player who is always taller. So, the romance animations never line up. Most games are like that.- PugLove8886 years agoHero (Retired)
@Psychotps, interesting to know. 😎 I don't play with Mods, or even CC. ( Too much trouble for me to keep up with! 😞😳 ) So info like that is interesting to me.
- Psychotps6 years agoSeasoned Ace@PugLove888 Thing is, mods can sometimes reveal some interesting things about games and how they work.
Another example: There's a mod for Mass Effect 1 that allows a female Shepard to romance Ashley. Very interesting thing is, the voice files for the FemShep/Ashley romance scene were already in the game. But you can't romance Ashley with Femshep in the vanilla game, so why are the audio files there? They must have originally intended Femshep to romance Ashley and even packaged the audio files in the game, but decided to kill it at the last moment.
I love finding out hidden things like that.
