How to custom rotate objects in any angle

Go to 2.23, He get's a rotate icon and is able to spin the sofa in an circle, The buttons don't work for me, Unless i'm doing something wrong?

You should listen to what he says. Hold down ALT while using the mouse to rotate the object.

This, you need Sims 3 camera active. At least for me was the only way to get it to work.
I also had bb.moveobjects  active.
