How to get back pets that have been taken

@crinrict By the way, do you know how to retrieve a pet that has been taken away due to hunger?

    @HayesKerr hello, I know it's been a long time since this question, but I recently came across this page when my dog was also taken due to neglect. While continuing my game, I had to take my other dog to the vet and I saw my dog taken from me on the sim selection screen for travel. I went to the vet by selecting him and we met there, I added him to my family on the cheat screen with the shift key. maybe it will help others. thanks.
