Infinite loading screen when resuming games

I had the same issue and after many frustrating attempts at resolving it I ended up fixing it by deleting the off-the-grid lot trait in build mode. So rather than just clicking resume game, I went through load game, selected the lot, and selected build mode, rather than live. Another solution I read online (that didn't work for me, but might for you) is moving your household out and back into the lot.
