Map won't load
I updated my game today, and now I can't load into the map. I can load into the current household, but I have to stay at that lot and not travel otherwise I end up on an endless loading screen. I don't play with mods. I've cleared the caches. I tried repairing the game w/ no luck. At one point, I let my computer sit for 15 minutes before giving up... usually it loads pretty quickly. My computer is up to date. The game worked fine a couple days before. .. i really don't know what to try at this point. The game is basically unplayable at this point. Help!
Saves are not loading adn new household creation is also not working

I have noticed a new issue in my game regarding books, kids' toys, and pet toys purchased by a member of the household. A sim will purchase books/toys, and the items will be placed in the bookshelf or toybox. However, if I leave live mode on the current lot in any way, such as by entering CAS or travelling to a different lot, the items will be missing upon return. I will click "open" on the bookshelf/toybox, and it will be empty.
[PC] Households Fail to Load After Sept 18 Patch – Drama Scheduler KeyError
Platform: PC (Windows 11) Game Version: 1.118.242.1030 (Sept 18, 2025 patch) Mods/CC: None (tested with completely empty Mods folder, caches cleared, and after game repair) Issue: Household saves fail to load and return to World Select. This happens consistently after the Sept 18 patch. Better Exceptions reports a desync in the vanilla drama_scheduler.py script. The error occurs during lot spin-up before the household finishes loading. Steps to Reproduce: Launch the game with no mods/CC. Try to load a household save. The loading screen runs briefly, then the game kicks back to World Select. What Happens: Household does not load. Returns to World Select. Better Exceptions log shows a KeyError in drama_scheduler.py (CooldownGroup.INVALID). What Should Happen: Household should load normally without desyncs. Error Log (excerpt): Exception raised while processing zone spin up sequence: <CooldownGroup.INVALID = 0> KeyError: <CooldownGroup.INVALID = 0> File "drama_scheduler.py", line 802, in score_and_schedule_nodes_gen File "drama_scheduler.py", line 367, in _update_cooldowns Modded: False Game Version: 1.118.242.1030 Notes: Happens even in a brand-new save with no mods/CC. I repaired the game in the EA App, deleted localthumbcache, and tested again — same result. Appears to be a base-game bug introduced in patch 1.118, not related to mods. Please investigate the drama scheduler cooldown handling, as it seems to be throwing a KeyError when encountering invalid cooldown groups.
Game won't load
Since the last update: My game will bring to the main menu, but if I click on load game, which has no mods, it will not load. It will start, but then it will freeze, and I can't exit out of the game. It leads to a complete restart of the PC. I have "repaired" the game, multiple times in hopes that it will fix it. I have cleaned out my PC as much as I can. What is going on? It's very depressing that this game still has so many bugs and it's been out for ten+ years. Also, side note, are there going to be reimbursements for those of us that bought the base game, that is now free? And if all the base games are free, Sims, Sims, Sims3 & Sims4, will we be reimbursed for all of those base games that we have purchased? All of my games besides sims4 are on disc. Also, I am able to play all the other games offline - why does Sims4 need to be connected to the internet to run properly. If I hadn't spent half my life playing Sims and having so much time and money wrapped up in this game, I would walk away. That's how disgusted I really am. Fix it. Please. AND BRING BACK SPIRAL STAIRCASES!
New Game / CAS issue
When I’m trying to start a new game and going into CAS, changing between outfits reverts the sims hair and eyes back to a different colour. I was mid making a sim too and the CAS music is still playing, I can hear the sim but the screen has turned into the start screen, as in when you first open the app and it’s unresponsive. No CC, no mods.Can't Adopt Stepchildren
A few months ago, I noticed I was able to adopt stepchildren, but today when I tried again with a new family, the option isn't there. The only option is adopt as care dependent, which isn't fully adopting them (they don't show up in the family tree and you can just as easily remove them as care dependent). I have checked all of the interaction options under all the trees, and double-checked friendly and relationships, but the only option I have now is adopt as care dependent. I tried again with a different family, different save, and same problem. The adopt option isn't showing up anymore. I do not use any mods.
