I didn't at first but I have tried that now and it doesn't change anything ☹️ I have attached two pictures. One is from my inventory where you can see I have 1 snake oil and 4 tainted food serum. And when I want to "test serum" on someone, I only see Snake Oil as an option.
I think the serums are normal. You can't test the tainted food serum because it doesn't need testing. You already know that it's tainted.
You could be running into the same sort of thing with the flora. I don't play Scientist very often, but I'm fairly sure that each item can only be analyzed once. You'll need to get some new harvestables if you've already analzyed the ones you have.
