  • djvm13  No, you should not have installed the game anywhere into Documents.  So please uninstall it and reinstall somewhere else.  If you need help with this process, let me know whether your computer runs Windows or macOS.

Before uninstalling the game, make a backup copy of the saves and Tray folders inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.  If you want to save your Screenshots and Recorded Videos folders, do that too, plus Mods if you have any mods or custom content.  Uninstalling the game may remove this entire Sims 4 folder, including all your user data.  But other than the above, the files are replaceable.

I reinstalled it to my C drive and it seems to be fine but now I can not get the sims 4 mod manager to work right. It wants to go to my user file and I do not have it installed there it is under c drive program files but I use the documents file on my D drive. I want to install the game on my D drive but just don't know how. It was all fine on my E drive before the last update then it would not load so I reloaded it and it still put all the packs in my document/electronic/arts/the sims 4

Sorry I forget to tell you that I am on windows 11 PC

  • djvm13  You can install the game's program files wherever you want, but NOT in Documents.  If you'd rather install to D, go ahead.  Just make a separate folder on D, for example D:\Games, and choose that when installing.

If you want to do a clean uninstall of Sims 4 before reinstalling, which might be a good idea if you've had the game installed in multiple locations, here's how:

    📓[GUIDE] [PC] How to Clean-uninstall Sims 4 | EA Forums - 12636503

Note that all of this is separate from the user folder, which will be in Documents > Electronic Arts regardless of where you've installed the game.  The mod manager should be working with this folder.  If it's not, if it can't find the folder on D, then use a different manager or just manage the files yourself.  Mod managers are not a great option anyway for various reasons.

Ok I got everything done with your help (THANK YOU SO MUCH) and I am back to playing my game with all my mods, saves, and trays but I made the D: documents\ electronic arts \ the sims 4 folder but after I am done playing the Electronic arts moves out of documents to D: Electronic arts and it has everything saved that I just played and the one in documents does not. I just wanted you to know that but I have just been playing it from the one that is just in D drive and just leave the one in documents there so there is no problem. Just wanted to let you know. Again THANK YOU SO MUCH I really appreciate you

  • djvm13  As long as everything is working, you don't need to do anything else.  But if you'd like help figuring out what's going on with your files moving around, let me know.
